My take on Yaba's Pickle

Today another Splinterlands post. This time, I am writing about Yaba's Pickle as that's the theme for the community challenge this week. You can find theme of this week here. For those of you who are unaware, by participating in the community engagement events, you could receive upvotes on your articles. Ofcourse you need to write qualitative content. Anyway, hereby my attempt to write a qualitative article. ;)

The sale

As you can read in the official post, there will be different options to grab a copy of Yaba's Pickle. The first option will be to buy a card in the shop for 150 dec or 150 credits. You will have a chanche of 4% to receive a goldfoil version (if using alchemy potions). If you are really lucky, you could get your hands on a blackfoil version, but the chance is only 0,05% so really slim.

As you can see, the card is really cheap to buy in the shop. I think that's great, as that way, new players of players with less deep wallets could try to grab some cards as well. Ofcourse it could mean that there are a lot of cards flooding the markets and the prices won't be that high. But I prefer that all players are able to compete for a bonus card rather than only the whales with deep pockets. Ofcourse this is just a personal opinion.

The card will be available for purchase for only 30 days, so don't forget to get your copies in that timeframe. There is one but though. Players need to have SPS staked to be able to purchase the card. For every 1000 SPS staked, a player could buy one copy. Let's be honest, 1000 SPS isn't that much, so it should definitely be doable, even for the smaller players.

The goldfoil raffle

Besides the availability in the shop, there will be a goldfoil raffle as well. 50 pieces will be raffled. So if you aren't able to buy a lot of copies in the regular shop and still wanting a goldfoil version, than this option may be something for you. A ticket will cost you 200 Aura, 10 Vouchers, and 200 DEC each. Even these tickets aren't too expensive in my eyes. So once again, a player with less money could grab a version as well.

The blackfoil auction

When the goldfoil raffle has ended, the auction for 20 pieces of the blackfoil variant will start. As could be seen in the normal sale, these version is extremely rare, so expect to see higher bids here. When you want to do a bid, you have to buy auction points, which could be bought for 1000 Aura, 50 Vouchers, and 500 DEC. These auction points will be used to perform your bids, so be prepared to spend quite an amount of these auction points!

Stats of Yaba's pickle

All good, there are different ways to grab the particular card. But what are we exactly buying? Above, you could see the stats of the card. As you see, it's a tank. It hasn't a way to attack other cards and its abilities are giving it its tankiness. At level 3, it gets dodge, which gives it a 25% to dodge melee and ranged attacks. At level 5, it gets the shield ability which makes it even tankier against melee and ranged attacks as the damage is halved. At level 8 it gets the Slow ability which lowers the speed of all enemies by 1. The best ability it gets at level 10: Heal. That way it will be able to heal itself. Definitely not a bad card to have in your deck when you're in the need of a decent tank in the first place slot.

Conclusion

I really like the fact that the Splinterlands team makes it possible for players with less filled pockets to participate in the sale of 'exclusive' cards as well. In my eyes, everyone could grab one or even a couple of this card. I think it will be a decent tank card especially as it's mana isn't that high, so it could be used often. Well done Splinterlands team!

It all began in December 2021, I was a bit bored and was looking for a new game to play on my laptop. After googling a bit, I saw the term play2earn in my google results. I didn't know it at that time but it seemed awesome, earning money while playing games instead of spending money on those games. Soon I learned that play2earn means that you can indeed earn some money to play the games. How does it work? While playing those games, you can earn NFT's of those games. These NFT's can be traded and sold for cryptocurrencies which could be swapped for fiat if you would like to. That's how I started.
