Hey guys, I created this new account to address what I see as certain shortcomings in the Splintertalk project. I mainly want to see more serious integration between Splintertalk and Splinterlands, and hopefully between Splintertalk and other projects on Hive. I want Splinterlands and Splintertalk to be more easily extensible by the community so that we can players can use our programming skills to build various projects to add value to the Splinterlands ecosystem.
To this end, I have certain projects in mind that I will outline in future posts.
That being said, for now that reason I am making this post is because I have solved what has been a persistent issue that bugged me and is something I always felt was preventing SPT from growing. In order for the average Hive user to buy SPT, they had to first buy SPS and then buy SPT. This can be a massive inconvenience and a mental roadblock preventing adoption. On top of that, it is not ideal for users because of liquidity pool fees.
The other 2 options to buy SPT are also bad. You could buy 1UP and then SPT via the liquidity pool, but that suffers from the same issues as SPS but even worse since there is little money in the pool ($15 as of today). Then the other option is to buy via the normal order book market, but that has low volume and so you would be getting a bad deal.
That is why I created the SPT:SWAP.HIVE pool. This pool will allow easier investment into SPT and encourage the growth of our community. I will try to grow this pool to become at least as large as, but hopefully significantly larger than, the SPS:SPT pool. In order to grow SPT, we should be in a position where a user can easily and conveniently sell $1000 worth of SPT by using SWAP.HIVE without losing lots of money to price swings or fees. Although we definitely want to have tight integration with Splinterlands, the reason to prioritize SWAP.HIVE is because when users convert their fiat to crypto, they get Hive, not SPS. Their needs are not currently being met, and hopefully this pool can help.
I have put a little money into the pool and I hope that now all of you will help as well, since you are now aware it exists.
