Splinterlanes Update — foils roll richer, battles play fair

Splinterlanes Update Log

✦ This batch: your foils now sweeten the Talisman prize roll instead of bending the shuffle, the last three cards without battle figures got theirs cut by hand, and a round of fixes keeps the battle show honest — every round plays its full effects, on the clock, with no peeking at the ending.

New here? Splinterlanes is three-lane battles for your real Splinterlands collection: tickets cost $0.01, winners roll real cards, delivered on-chain. How to play · Battle now

The Foil Talisman Bonus ✨

"Foils muster first" is retired: foils no longer shape your draw. The shuffle is fair, and foils are cosmetic in play.

Their perk moved somewhere better — the prize roll. When a ticketed win pays out a Talisman, the foils in your Deck lift the odds of a higher tier:

  • every Black Foil or Black Arcane card adds 2%,
  • every Gold Foil or Gold Arcane card adds 1%,
  • counted over all 53 cards — Archons included.

An all-black Deck lifts its Tier 2 and Tier 3 chances by +106%, an all-gold Deck by +53%, and a mix adds up card by card. Sealed and Draft Decks count the same way. The Deck Builder now shows your Deck's Foil bonus right beside its Mana, and the Tutorial explains the whole thing.

Your shiny collection finally pulls its weight where it counts: the prizes.

The last three cards stand up 👻

Every playable card now rises on the battlefront. Three holdouts had defeated the automatic figure cutter — chief among them Shadowy Presence, whose artwork is shadow on shadow: black wraiths in a black field, with nothing for the cutter to grab. Its standee was cut by hand — the full creeping thicket, skull-lit wraiths and all — and Frost Giant and Nidhoggr got the same one-by-one treatment.

No card stands still on its printed art any more.

An honest battle show ⚔️

Three fixes keep what you watch true to what happened:

  • Every round plays its full effects. Ranged arrows, magic orbs, melee slashes, Ability auras and death motes had only played in the first round of a match or replay and gone dark after it. Fixed — every round now plays its full show.
  • Animations locked to the match clock. Battle animations could gradually fall behind — deployments would lag, and the result screen could arrive with earlier rounds still playing out. Every round's animation is now anchored to the match clock: if it ever runs late it speeds up, so the board you watch is always the round being fought.
  • No more death-battle spoilers. The finished battlefield — and with it the outcome — could flash on screen for a moment before the closing death rounds had animated. The board now stays with the story: each death round reveals in order, and the outcome waits for the last blow to land.

Weapons Training shows its work 🎯

When a Monster with Weapons Training arms its no-attack neighbour mid-battle, the neighbour's card now displays the granted attack stat the moment it's trained. Before, it visibly attacked while its card still read no attack until the next round — the battle was always right, but the card kept the secret.
