Today I want to share with you my Splinterlands campaign experience: BOOK 1 – WAUR MEDGE ACADEMY.
I completed 12 chapters in just one day and I was very happy. There were many reasons for this happiness, and all the credit goes to @shrazi who told me about this campaign. Because of him, I finally entered the Splinterlands game, which is one of the most famous games on Hive.
Two days ago, @shrazi (my real brother) told me about this campaign and asked me to join. I replied, “Yes, I will definitely join, but is there any fee for that?” Then I came to know that it is totally free, which doubled my interest. The next day, I joined the campaign.
In the past, I had invested a lot in Splinterlands cards and also made profits, but I had never actually played the game. I didn’t know the rules or the elements. But now, thanks to this campaign, I started learning step by step how to play the game, and at the same time, I also received rewards, which for me was a big motivation. This is really a wonderful initiative by Splinterlands that will bring many new players into the game.
I took screenshots of all the 12 chapters I completed, so I can share them in this post for those who still have not joined. I highly recommend new players to join this campaign as soon as possible, to benefit from the rewards and also to improve their gameplay.
Here I got my first card Dread Tafarian and faced a battle with a bear. I won easily and got rewarded with another card. In this first battle, I learned about health and speed, which was taught by the character Gon Fizzlebit. I really liked this character.
Here, we got humiliated with our single card and yes, this is also part of the game: to lose. Thayko Gol’eavas insulted us in the battle because we were not well equipped, having only one card. But that’s how the journey begins in this campaign. We lost, but still received a reward, and moved forward to our first chapter.
Headmaster Bimbelnok welcomed us to Waur Medge and offered to teach us the tactics and strategies used in battles. We were rewarded with another card wowow
Professor Magnus Flint taught us about the types of cards.
There are two types of cards:
Archons: These have a small green triangle shape below. They don’t take part in battles directly, but their power applies to the whole team of units.
Units: These are the actual battle cards that attack and defend.
To make us understand this clearly, a battle was played, and after winning we got another reward.
Here, Professor Magnus Flint explained melee attack cards. To show this practically, a battle was arranged so we could see when and how to use melee cards. The battle was easy, I won, and again received a reward.
This chapter was about ranged attack cards. These cards can attack only from the 2nd position onward (unless there is a special battle rule). Again, there was a practical battle to understand this better.
This time, the battle was not easy. I lost twice, but finally won on the third try. Honestly, it is not too hard, but not too simple either. After some battles, you start to understand. Finally, I completed the chapter.
Here, the professor explained armor.
Armor decreases first before health decreases. For example, if only 1 armor is left and the opponent attacks with 2 damage, the entire attack is absorbed by the armor and health does not decrease.
To explain this better, another battle was arranged. I won, and once again got rewarded.
This one was quite complicated 😅
Professor Magnus Flint explained the role of speed in battles. Speed is very important because if the opponent’s card is faster than your attacking card, your attack can miss.
Then, for practical understanding, a battle was played. I lost twice and really struggled to understand it, but finally, I managed to win one battle, mostly by luck and got rewarded again. Honestly, the speed calculation is very tricky, but somehow I completed this chapter.
Wow Magic cards are simply amazing.
When the professor explained them, I was really impressed. Magic cards are powerful because they can attack from any position and directly damage health, ignoring armor.
But of course, the real skill is how and when to use them. In this battle, I won on the first try and completed the chapter with a reward.
This chapter was completely different.
Abilities are the special characteristics of cards. Basically, cards with additional powers. There is a long list of them, which you can check here:

The game started becoming more complex now. First it was simple, but now with speed, armor, magic, and abilities you really have to think carefully while choosing your team and positions.
Still, I enjoyed it a lot. After playing a battle to understand abilities properly, I won and got rewarded with another card hurray!
Mana is a real game changer.
Each card has a mana cost written on it, and every battle has a mana limit. For example, if a battle has a 25 mana limit, the total mana of your chosen cards must not exceed 25.
This is a common rule in many games, but still, it requires talent to build the best team within the limit. Another battle was played to teach us this, and I won, reward again in my pocket!
Honestly, I didn’t understand this chapter very well. Professor Thalos Graystone explained about elements and neutral cards, but it was confusing.
Still, I played the battle, somehow won, and moved on to the next chapter. I think elements are connected to Archon cards, that’s probably what he was trying to explain.
This was the only thing left.
After teaching us everything, now we were told that battles can also have rules, which can completely change the game. These rules are called modifiers.
They can be of different types, and you can read more about them here:

Professor Thalos Graystone made it really tough for us 😂 but what can we do? We had come this far, so we had to continue. Then I played the battle, won, and again got my reward. Yohoo!
Now only Chapter 12 was left, which was very exciting and challenging. I will share that experience with you tomorrow. For today, these chapters are enough.
I hope you enjoyed reading this, and if you liked it, then join the campaign as soon as possible and be a part of Splinterlands the most active, famous, and interesting game of Hive.
