For those who don't know yet, Splinterlands holds an event every week called Battlemage Secrets in which a rule is chosen as a theme and players need to battle on the fields of Praetoria until they find an opponent who fights under the chosen rule.
This week the rule chosen was "Keep Your Distance", which removes meele monsters from the game, and the duel was between two Dragon-type summoners. Come and discover some tips and see which team managed to win!
I'll be much appreaciated if you Upvote, Reblogs or give any Tips ( PIZZA 🍕, PGM 🎮, LOLZ 😆, ALIVE ❤️, etc ). Thanks and have good reading! 🍀
Ruleset| The rule of the week is Keep Your Distant, as the name suggests, only monsters that attack from afar can be used in battles while this rule is active. Thus, as shown in the rule image, melee monsters are excluded from the selection and even monsters that have melee as a secondary attack are also not available.
As in this rule only archers or wizards can be used, a good strategy is to look for monsters whose skills can counter these types of attacks. In the case of magic, you can use a tank with Phase and Void like Djinn Oshannus. In the case of archery, you can think about using a monster with Headwinds to reduce the opponent's damage or Return Fire to return part of the attack. In this same idea, you can use magic reflect too.
Match Rules| In addition to the rule of the week, we also had several other limitations when choosing the team. The first one is the rules that we could only use even-numbered monsters. Afterwards, we will only be able to use low mana monsters, as the limit is 15 mana pool. Still, we could only choose between Fire and Dragon.
Ally | As there was only Fire and Dragon available to choose from, there was a greater chance of an archer being used, as fire is not very strong with wizards. With that in mind, I chose my Quix the Devious as my summoner as he gives a debuff to archery attacks and also reduces the enemy's speed. To go with it, I used Molten Ash as a tank, which is low mana, has 10 HP and could also attack in the first position even though he was an archer because he had the Close Range skill. In addition to him, I chose as DPS with the remaining mana the Naga Assassin which has high Speed and only costs 2 mana and finally the Xenith Archer, also 2 mana with an OK speed.
Enemy | On my opponent's side, he went with Cornealus' Heal strategy, which can heal himself by 3 HP per round, that is, his idea was to win through long-term damage when the match lasts many rounds and to avoid receiving damage he still used a summoner that gives him Flying.
Round in which buffs and debuffs are applied to teams, starting with the archery attack reduction, which wasn't very effective, as Corneleous doesn't attack, then its speed was reduced from 3 to 2. The opponent it had no debuffs, so the battle proceeded that way.
My monsters started to attack him, first it was the naga that landed the hit and reduced the opponent's HP by 1, then the xenith missed the attack due to Flying and finally the Molten hit, causing 2 damage. Note that if there was no rule that guarantees Cripple, Cornealus would have healed for 3 HP and would not have taken damage. Cripple reduces the enemy monster's total HP and consequently the healing as well, as it is proportional to HP.
In this round, all my monsters managed to hit and deal damage to the opponent, and notice that even though he was healing due to his HP being reduced, he was unable to fill his HP. This way, the game will continue until Cornealus is defeated and he can't do anything since he doesn't have a close range to attack and the opponent only has 1 monster too.
The enemy managed to dodge a few times, but he received some hits and had his HP gradually reduced until in Round 6 he was defeated.
My luck in this match was that even though the Enemy Cornealus gained 3 Heal per Round, my team had a DPS of 4 and that even though he used Brighton Bloom to give Flying and bet on dodging, my monsters had a status speed ok and my summoner reduced the enemy's speed to 2, making it equal to my slowest monster, reducing the miss chance just for Flying by 25%. The rule that gives cripple was very good because it reduces Cornealus' total HP, making him heal less.
Because of this, it is important that you pay attention to the issue of the speed of your character and your team, because the opponent may use some strategy based on it, and even if they don't, you will have the advantage of dodging more and attacking first, so speed is always good.
