Tutorial and Tips - My Top 10 Non Legendary Cards For Little League Battles!

image.png

It's a new edition of Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge and the theme this week is Tutorials and Tips from the Community.

I thought of sharing 10 cards I like to use for Little League battles. As most of you would know, one can only use cards up to 4 mana for Little League battles. Regardless how many big cards you have, your hands are tied and you can only field all the small cards. Hence it's also important to have a few of these strong small cards, solely to fight Little League battles.

For beginners, there is no need to worry. None of these cards are Legendary cards, which means they are really affordable to buy/rent and are beginner friendly. In fact, 4 out of 10 cards are Common cards!

So here we go - my top 10 non-Legendary cards for Little League battles!

Cruel Sethropod

image.png

I use Water lineups a lot and Cruel Sethropod is one of my favourite cards for the tank position in Little League battles. At just 3 mana, it packs 3 Armor and 4 HP, and deals 2 Melee damage. Of course, the version I have is the Gold Foil Level 3 copy, but even Level 1, I think it's still a pretty decent card and it's a Common card so it's just not costly too.

Kulu Swimhunter

image.png

Kulu Swimhunter comes in at 4 mana, which is the maximum mana allowed for Little League battles. At Gold Foil Level 3 or Level 1, it deals 2 Ranged damage which is pretty nasty as well. I usually place Kulu Swimhunter as one of the last cards in the lineup because Ranged cards can attack from the first position. With enough time in the battle, Kulu Swimhunter can deal a significant amount of damage.

Merdhampir

image.png

Merdhampir is also a strong candidate for Little League battles because of Life Leech. Personally I would prefer Kulu Swimhunter because of the higher damage output, but if there's room to include more cards in the lineup, Merdhampir is a decent addition too!

Riftwing

image.png

Apart from Water lineups, I also like to play Death lineups. For Little League battles, Riftwing is an extremely strong card. With Scavenge ability, it can function very well both as the tank or even in the middle of the pack. This burns a lot of the opponent's time to bring it down and a long list of Death cards hiding at the back can deal damage to take the opposing cards down.

Revealer

image.png

So who should hide behind Riftwing? Revealer is definitely one of them. With 5 HP, it's one of the higher HP cards for 4 mana and below. The strength of Revealer lies in its Stun ability, which can be very crucial in stopping the opponent's hit or even a heal. While the chance of Stun is 50%, when luck is on your side, it can single handedly win the battle for you.

Venari Bonesmith

image.png

Venari Bonesmith is also a strong card in Little League battles because of Life Leech. While I would still prefer Revealer, Venari Bonesmith is still pretty a decent card to field. Magic damage can hit anywhere from the lineup and when partnered with Riftwing, these two cards can basically form two big walls for the opponent to break through. (You can also introduce another wall from Life Sapper too!)

Ravenhood Warden

image.png

This is a very recent card and Ravenhood Warden fits very nicely in my Death lineup strategy. With Repair, that extra 2 Armor for the entire lineup is extremely massive for Little League battles, as cards usually don't have big damage output. The little extra Ranged attack is a nice bonus.

Xenith Monk

image.png

If all else fails because of ruleset restrictions, Xenith Monk under the Neutral element still make for a decent tank. The Level 2 copy with Heal is actually more powerful, but currently, I hold the Level 1 copy and it suffices for my needs.

Venari Marksrat

image.png

We all know who this is! Haha! This is extremely situational because in Little League battles, cards are scarce and one has to consider whether it's worth fielding a card like Venari Marksrat to sacrifice for the Martyr boost. Of course, if you have Riftwing who needs Scavenge, then it's fine.

Trapp Falloway

image.png

For the last card, I thought I would share a Gladius card. It's not available for purchase on the market, but with enough Merits, one has a good chance of getting this Epic card. At 4 mana, Trapp Falloway packs a crazy amount of stats. 4 Melee damage (yes, you are seeing it correctly), 4 speed (whatttt) and 4 HP. As with all Gladius cards, there's Bloodlust on Trapp Falloway too. That's not all too - Trapp Falloway has Weaken too. Combined with Thaddius Brood and Undead Priest, one can reduce the opponent's HP by -3 in total. I am usually cautious when fielding Trapp Falloway for Death lineups because of Cursed Windeku but Cursed Windeku won't be able to fight in Little League fights so Trapp Falloway is very safe here.

So that's all for my 10 non-Legendary cards for Little League battles? What are your top choices, or did I leave any cards out? Feel free to comment below, as I am always keen to learn and improve!

As always, thanks for reading and have a pleasant day ahead!
