Splinterlands : Conclave Arcana Presale, Chase is real for ...

So as an enthusiast web3game player, I am sure that you will be already aware of the Splinterland's Conclave Arcana Presale that has already begun on the the 22nd April 2025.
I have already mentioned the about the details of Presale on my earlier post . Where I mentioned about 3 type of packs offered in this presale, having different price point and different promises for these pack. The Legendary pack is most expensive at 24K DEC per pack but it promises at least a one Legendary card from the pack. Alchemy pack promises for a Gold foil and its promises a Gold foil card in the pack. In the last come standard pack, which just promises a rare card, and is prices at 4000 DEC.

Based on the price point and other facts what look to be best bet ? Get a guaranteed Legendary card or a gold foil card. I was leaning towards that players wanted to be guaranteed Legendary card from pack, until the Splinterland's sales data proved it otherwise.

So is it the Gold foil that players are aspiring? I went to re read the Splinterland's Conclave Arcana Announcement post. And it immediately become clear to me that my aspiration in conclave arcana is not the Legendary card nor the Gold foil card, all I aspire the mighty "Black Foil" cards.

So what is relationship between "Black Foil" card and Alchemy packs?

Chase is real for Black Foil cards.

Interestingly, when the players are buying Alchemy packs like crazy, their real motivation is to get the Black Foil cards. Actually there no guaranteed Black Foil in the pack but there is chance of getting Black Foil in the pack as per below probablity.

You can only find Black Foils in Conclave Arcana packs. The chances of each card being a Black Foil vary by pack type and are listed below:

Standard Packs: 0.025% (1 in 4,000 cards or 1 in 800 packs)
Alchemy Packs: 0.25% (1 in 400 cards or 1 in 80 packs)
Legendary Packs: 0.125% (1 in 800 cards or 1 in 160 packs)

So it is clear, that probability of getting Black Foil is highest in the Alchemy pack. No above number correspond to pack numbers of each pack type , let make it uniform by converting them to the DEC spent on these pack to have probability of getting 1 Black Foil.

If you are buying standard packs, then you might get 1 Black Foil in 800 packs, with each pack costing 4K DEC, it is equivalent to 3200K DEC or expenditure equivalent to $3200 .

If you are buying Alchemy packs, then you might get 1 Black Foil in 80 packs, with each pack costing 12K DEC, it is equivalent to 960K DEC or expenditure equivalent to $960 .

If you are buying Legendary packs, then you might get 1 Black Foil in 160 packs, with each pack costing 24K DEC, it is equivalent to 3840K DEC or expenditure equivalent to $3840 .

So it is evident that if you are focusing to get more Black Foil cards, you should be spending your money on Alchemy packs for best results. Though those numbers are probability, not guaranteed but still having Alchemy packs give you 3.33x chance vs money spent on standard packs and 4x chance vs Legendary packs.

So players are really chasing black foil by buying Alchemy packs and to be honest I will also like to have Black Foil so I would be doing the same while buying the packs.

So What are your Goals in Conclave Arcana and would you like to have?

Every individual can have different goals so I am wondering that what goal you are having in Conclave arcana presale and with this sets. It is evident that most player goal is Black Foil and in side some players want to buy "good" cards from market instead of trying their luck. So what is your strategy for current presale and going forward.
