Hey all fellow Praetorians, welcome back to my Splinterlands Blog! It's Sunday and it's waaay past my normal time I make posts for the weekly challenges, but sometimes life just gets in the way so let's get on with it, the deadline for this post is Sunday 12 PM... CDT... hmmm what? I think that is 6 PM for me so that should be ok since it's 6:44 AM now! 😃

So again, nothing new for this weeks Social Media Challenge and it's not required because this topic can be interpreted in so many ways we could make endless post with this assignment. 😊
A LOT has happened again this week so I wasn't sure what to make my post about, the most absolute amazing thing that happened for me was listening to the latest townhall and listen to Andrew from Not Corrupt Media talk about the marketing plans he has for our beloved game, he has a lot of self confidence and like BJ said in thepeoplesguild podcast he's even a bit cocky but that's fine when you can back it up, and I even think it's required in a position like where he is in.

The townhall lasted for just over two and half hours from what I can recall and it was PACKED with good news, plans and just overall things to make you feel good about where the game is heading, I don't know how you can listen to this all and NOT get bullish for Splinterlands!

I also saw on X yesterday another Web3 game stopped existing because they ran out of funds, and that's exactly the reason I only touch Splinterlands because this happens way too much and I think Splinterlands is already past that period of darkness, needing to cut costs and making the hard decisions needed to survive in this space, not many projects can say they survived two bear markets and are already here for over SIX years, I'm proud and excited to be a part of it for more than half of this time, VONAK!

So, that was just a prelude, and I didn't even knew I was going to talk about all of this, I just enjoy writing about my favorite thing in the digital world... 😋

Survival Mode

With the end of last season, Survival Mode went live and although I feel this is NOT for players like me and probably not for 80% of the people playing Splinterlands, but that doesn't mean it's not important that new game modes like these are being developed, we need to care for everyone and this is just another way to use cards that doesn't get used in other ways, already I've seen on X players are starting to buy more cards to be competitive in this new game mode, and even if you don't play Survival Mode yourself, this drives card demand, more demand means higher prices which affects us all, that's the beauty of all of this!
I love how the founder @yabapmatt sees things and makes his plans for the game, in more than one occasion the team made plans and when the community heard the plan many reactions were negative, but when it's in place we can see it actually works, just let the team do what they are good at, guided by Matt's vision - it's why I'm here all this time and remained here even in the darkest of times when many walked away.

I pulled a Gold Foil Legendary!

The other amazing thing for me happened on the very same day for me, I always spend my earned glint all at once at the end of the season, and because there was a big maintenance window in the way on Thursday evening for me, this didn't happen until Friday afternoon when I came home from work, I'm planning to use this account in Wild League after the Modern rotation so I'm still a long way from completing my reward set, so I'm spreading my glint across different rarity draws - 100 commons, 30 rares, a couple of epics and usually 1 legendary draw, depending how much I have earned but this was about what I went for this season, also just 1 legendary draw since I only got up to around 130k glint and I felt like the epics were more important, and then this happened...

This happened like two minutes after I saw a message on X from another player who had pulled a 1 mana GFL (pretty unusable card except as a filler in my opinion) and then I pulled this REALLY usable Chaos Battle Mage which I didn't even own in Regular Foil, wow!!
This only happens for me like once or twice a year, and I'm grinding pretty dedicated with two accounts, never letting my energy get to 50 when maintenance doesn't gets in the way, so when it does happen it's quite a special moment! 😍

Show us a battle!

So, I'm rambling again huh.. let's get on with today's main topic because I didn't think I would be able to make a big enough post just about the topics above, I still came a long way! 😅

The battle I want to share with you happened yesterday morning when I was grinding this account, and it was just utter defeat, for my opponent! 😂 I'm not trying to boast here, I'm also losing my fair share but wins like these doesn't happen very often so let's take a look at it...

The battle I want to share for this post is a 45 mana Lost Legendaries battle fought in Modern League with the Water and Earth splinters locked out, without the threat of the fast water team dodging my arrows, with heavy hitting opportunity monsters hunting my archers I decided to go for General Sloan and make a ranged heavy team doing lots of damage.

First look at the battlefield:

It's amazing how many players in modern are relying on their gladiator cards in normal battles, I'm glad they are about to disappear in the new modern because I think they interfere with just good old tactics, but in this case the gladiator used wasn't a really oppressive one so it didn't make a lot of difference, you will soon see! 😁

My Line-Up:

• Summoner: General Slaon - reason: +1 for ranged damage, my plan was just to overload my opponent with a lot of damage.
• First position: Drybone Barbarian - reason: Enrage and Retaliate makes him really dangerous!
• Second position: Pallus - reason: Nice backup tank with reach, good damage and speed.
• Third position: Gargoya Devil - reason: Close range archer with good attack strength.
• Fourth position: Venari Crystalsmith - reason: Good speed, OK damage, tank heal!
• Fifth position: Pelacor Arbalest - reason: The glass cannon, doing SIX damage in two consecutive attacks.
• Sixth position: War Pegasus - reason: Fast with Flying, good rear guard with good damage.

This battle is worth checking out yourself, I will share the link below this report, just a warning, it doesn't take very long! 😅

The Battle:

Round 1: The enemy Venari Bonesmith was the first of everyone to attack, he hit and enraged my Barbarian (who later got healed back to full health, cancelling it's enrage again) and then it was my teams turn.. wait.. where did the other team go!? 😂

Round 2: The other team didn't even got to attack anymore, my team was able to fire first and kill everyone, I warned you this was a fast battle! 🤣
I don't think I ever had a battle where the other team was only able to fire with one monster, and only once before it was utterly defeated!
