Splinterlands: Meet Tasoshi Drakamoto!

Hey everyone! It's a Saturday and it's going to be a blazing hot day where I live, so a great day to be inside doing Splinterlands related things and because I already drained my energy all the way to 0 just now, it's time to make my second blog post for this week, to hopefully fund my account a little extra because with all cool things going on, Splinterlands is worse than a black hole - it's impossible to have enough! 😅

And I mean that in a positive way of course, they way the game is designed, even big accounts have to make choices let alone smaller players.

So, for this weeks Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge the theme is to make a post about the new Voucher Promo Card, Tasoshi Drakamoto - when you're in to crypto, that name has to sound somewhat familiar right? 😂

🌟 Weekly Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: 🎯 Theme: Tasoshi Drakamoto!
She’s silent. She’s precise. And she’s about to light up the battlefield. 😎
This week’s Community Engagement Challenge puts the spotlight on one of the most anticipated voucher cards of the year—Tasoshi Drakamoto! Emerging from the shadows of Gloridax, this epic flame-wielding warrior brings a unique blend of precision and power to the battlefield. With the voucher sale just recently launched on June 17th, it’s the perfect time to dive into strategies, analysis, and predictions around this exciting new release.

Vouchers?

First things first and let's not pretend we were never inexperienced players at one time as well, and now with so many new players incoming every day (200 daily, which is awesome, welcome to all!) I want to start by explaining a thing or two...

So, vouchers are a in-game token you receive for staking SPS, so when you've just started playing Splinterlands without a spellbook that's perfectly fine, it's all about having fun right? Unfortunately this is not for you just yet but maybe you'll get addicted to the game just like me, and one day you will decide to dive deeper in to the game and get the spellbook - transforming the game from a normal game (web2) to a crypto game (web3) where you not only can OWN your assets like your cards but also, if you ever decide to leave the game, you can sell them!

Vouchers are awarded each day to players who stake Splintershards (SPS) or have a validator node. The amount of vouchers received is determined by your percentage of staked SPS vs. the total amount of staked SPS by all users. Vouchers can be used in the Exclusive voucher shop in-game.

Every couple of months, we get a new voucher promo card you can buy with the vouchers you received with you staked SPS, when you're only renting SPS, you're not getting vouchers so this is beneficial to players who invest in to their account and buy instead of renting everything. Personally I don't like renting, it's making other people rich and it leaves you with nothing when the rent expires - that being said, even with my personal stake of over 130k staked SPS, because I play multiple accounts I too have to rent additional SPS and I will probably have to keep doing this for quite some time although I'm buying some extra SPS every month.

Sathosh... Tasoshi!

The previous Voucher Promo card we had was Kelan Gaines, and when a new card arrives in the shop, the old card is no longer available to be bought with vouchers, so the only way you can buy it when you want it is from other players on the secondary market.

Kelan was a Dual splinter Rare card for both Dragon and Death and the price was 100 vouchers for every card copy (CC), Tasoshi is available for the Fire splinter only, and it's an Epic card - a higher rarity also means a higher price, Tasoshi's price is pretty steep with 250 vouchers per CC.

Just like Kelan, this card really gets strong in the higher levels, giving me the impression the Voucher cards are mostly made for the top players, since I can't even get a single copy with my 150 vouchers I had saved since buying a level 2 Kelan Gaines.

Is it worth it?

This is different for everyone, some players like to collect every single card in the game, let's look at what it costs in $ value...

image.png

When I don't OWN the vouchers, I could still buy them and 250 vouchers would cost me 7084 at the time of writing this post, or $6.58 at current DEC price.

With the 7084 DEC I could also buy 816 more SPS to boost my earnings and earn me vouchers for the future...

Like with everything going on in Splinterlands, there's no easy answer because having more cards available to play with can give you an advantage over your opponent, especially with the rulesets that limit the choice is cards.

Personally, I'm going to skip on this card but I did buy the previous ones like Kelan Gaines and Mana Warden because the voucher price was lower so it was more suited for smaller players, we just can't have it all and I'm saving my DEC for Yaba's Pickle !
