Hey guys, just a smaller Splinterlands post from me today, I did a small experiment renting SPS to see if it is worth it, or that I better just could buy SPS for the rental amount needed, so let's get somewhat deeper in to this!

Of course, everyone's situation is different, for the people not following me I manually play two accounts, but 'only' own just over 100k SPS in total, not enough for two higher level accounts!

My first account I play with a mostly max level Chaos Legion deck, mostly in Gold 1 and Diamond 3 but sometimes at the end of the season I'm able to push to Diamond 2.
It has 75k SPS staked to this account.

My second account is just a dumping ground really, it's missing a lot of the high power legendary cards but still I'm able to play in Gold 1 mostly and sometimes at the end of the season I'm able to push in to Diamond 3.
It has 25k SPS staked to this account.

SPS Staking Requirement

Every league has it's own staking requirement to receive full rewards with, in the image below you can see how much SPS is needed.

The number gets BIG real fast from Gold level and up, and as you can see I need to have 58k for Gold 1 and 88k for Diamond 3, the leagues where I play most.

I like to own, not to rent, so I was always just grinding my accounts and I was happy with whatever rewards I received, but with the current low SPS rental price I was curious..

Is it worth it to rent SPS??

I wanted to test this on my lowest level account with 25k owned SPS, I figured I could test this best by renting an additional 50k SPS for 0.001 DEC/SPS, current floor price.

Worth to mention: I did this experiment in the last week of the previous season.

At this price, the 7 days rental would cost me 350 DEC, or 26 cents at that time.
So I did a little experiment, would it be better to rent the SPS to improve my earnings, or just buy some extra SPS worth 26 cents every week? I honestly didn't know the answer...

26 cents worth of SPS would equate to buying 37 SPS at the time of my experiment (sorry, I like numbers 😂)

So, I made a rental request and it actually took 4 or 5 days for it to get filled!

My earnings just before my rental got filled:

And my earnings right after my rental got filled:

Just was just 1 battle so that's not enough to test with, so I took 5 battles before and after the rental.

Before

• Average Glint earnings: ~ 280
• Average SPS earnings: ~ 2.4

After

• Average Glint earnings: ~ 460
• Average SPS earnings: ~ 3.54

So, of course it wasn't only increasing my SPS earnings but also my Glint got boosted, and quite substantial because I received 64% more on average and my SPS was now boosted 47%.

Ignoring Glint for this test because it doesn't have any value (although it improves my overall gameplay with stronger cards, meaning more wins in the long run) I needed to pass 37 SPS in a week, if not I could better just buy the SPS and not rent.

I'm playing 24 battles every day, and I'm winning about 50% of this so 12 battles won earns me 12 x 1.14 SPS extra x 7 days = 95.7 SPS

At the same time I'm earning 180 glint extra per win x 12 battles every day x 7 days = 15100 Glint extra.

Conclusion

This is what I call a great experiment, and because my highest level account also needs extra SPS, I'm now waiting for an additional 50k SPS rental to be filled for that account as well to see what the improvement is.

Even without the extra Glint, this is definitely worth it, I'm doing more that a 2.5x on the rental cost! 😍
