Hey fellow Summoners in the world of Praetoria, it's a Thursday today so it's due time to make a new Splinterlands blog post to participate in the challenges the team provides to hopefully earn something extra to build my deck with, it's like putting a kid in the candy store, there's so much cool stuff to buy for the game - I haven't completed my Silver level modern deck yet... in fact, it's still primarily Rebellion with some awesome Conclave Arcana cards, for now I'm skipping the Archons for CA simply because my Rebellion Archons are awesome and having even more of them makes it too complicated for me what to choose. 😅
My latest addition to my deck I just bought today is Calabash Sage, a nice back line defender and now - a tank healer, I like it!
My Thursdays have changed quite a bit since I started cycling for sports, before I would spend all morning in front of my PC, doing Splinterlands related things, mostly from around 6 AM to 10 or 11 AM but now in the morning when I made breakfast and lunch for the kids, I go and prepare for my next training trip and go out between 8 and 9 AM for 2 hours, just this morning I rode 43 kilometers in about 1 hour 40 minutes - at some points our daily routines just change and I think it's nice for a change, I mean it's not that I don't enjoy Splinterlands anymore, on the contrary, it's still the best game our there in my opinion!
The two teams I'm using the most are Elias with a flank unit which protects Commander Slade, some magic guys and Venka in the back and Cryptic, with mostly Slade up front, Daigendark Hunter with Silence in the back to protect against magic, and again some magic guys with Venka is the middle... these are my two go-to teams in most mid to high mana battles since I don't own Lorkus or Tofu and today I want to share a nice battle I had last week, against another water team but with a whole other strategy.
This weeks Challenge is the same as last weeks:
🔥 Share Your Most Remarkable Splinterlands Moments: Do you possess a battle of epic proportions that deserves to be seen by all? Have you crafted something extraordinary within the Splinterlands realm? Maybe you've got profound thoughts, insights, or strategies related to stats, cards, abilities, or gameplay that are waiting to be shared? Especially when you're a new(er) player, I really recommend participating because this way you can basically fund your deck for free, just don't extract everything you earn - leave the Hive Power in your account to up vote other people with!
So, without further ado, let's get going!
Well the Commander Slade as tank was pretty obvious so we both choose it, everything else is completely different though, I have a big level disadvantage with my Silver level deck against a Diamond level Archon and two max units in the team.... Hopefully I can make up for this with better tactics and my awesome summoner, Cryptic!
I think the monster in the sniper (second) position in the other team is a bad choice with only 5 HP, that will be killed really fast... I'm not complaining!
Since we're both using tactics Archons, we both have the ability to adjust our strategy to the other team if that's needed, I like cryptic a lot for this reason: when the other team has annoying abilities like shield or void that are in the way, I generally go for the poison / expose to take that away, if it's a melee heavy team I go for the Retaliate / Enfeeble.
In this case the choice was easy, Slade already had Enfeeble and with only one enemy melee unit, Retaliate doesn't do a lot so for this battle it's Poison / Expose, my opponent already made up his mind and choose the +2 ranged damage for the archers in the back, both doing 5 damage is a lot... can I survive that much!?
Round 1: Not much has happened to my team, but as I said, the unit in the snipe position will be killed fast! One down... five to go!
Round 2: Wow this is going a lot faster and better for me than I expected, I love my team! 😁
Round 3: Only three round!? It was so much fun! Daarg made the final kill, winning me the battle, hooraah!
I like the new results screen by the way!
This battle was just before the end of last season so the rewards were pretty high for me, up in Diamond. A nice 7.9 SPS and over 600 glint, thanks Splinterlands!
