Splinterlands: A new Conflicts has started!

Hello fellow Splinterfans, and welcome back to my Splinterlands Blog, It's a Thursday today so it's time for me to make my first Splinterlands Challenge post to participate and hopefully earn some extra funds.

This weeks Social Media Challenge is the same as last weeks:

🔥 Share Your Most Remarkable Splinterlands Moments: Do you possess a battle of epic proportions that deserves to be seen by all? Have you crafted something extraordinary within the Splinterlands realm? Maybe you've got profound thoughts, insights, or strategies related to stats, cards, abilities, or gameplay that are waiting to be shared? We want it all, and we want it to be nothing short of AMAZING!

To learn how you can participate in the challenge yourself, check out the official Splinterlands post here.

And this week I guess the most amazing thing that's happening is the start of the new Conflicts is which players can participate and get rewarded for owning modern cards.

A lot has changed since this was just an airdrop and the reason why Chaos Legion has become such a problem for the game with overprinting and all that, back then players got awarded airdrop points for simply purchasing packs and it didn't matter if you later sold them again, creating tons of sold packs for airdrop points.

Chaos Legion has been the set I've purchased the most from, I remember purchasing a total of 181 packs to only get one card airdropped... 😏

Is this something for the smaller player?

The way conflicts work now is players can stake their Conclave Arcana cards but also Rebellion cards on Mage Wagons which can hold five cards each, each card has a certain amount of points depending on their level and rarity and Rebellion cards get 50% of the points.

For players only owning a small amount of cards can participate for fun but you shouldn't expect anything from it and should only join with the cards with the highest amount of points.

My personal problem with two accounts

Long time, my main account was this account @nozem01 but I was playing with a Diamond Chaos Legion set will high level reward cards, because of the price of the new sets I couldn't afford to keep playing at the higher levels, so I became a Silver player again and it would've been a waste of all those nice high level reward cards and older cards to not use them so, changes and choices had to be made, this account became a Wild account played by XBot and I started manually playing on @nozem.

In the past we could buy Battle Wagons with vouchers we earned by staking SPS so we basically got them for free by participating in the ecosystem, I bought ten Wagons in the past (and again earned one airdrop card in the Rebellion conflicts)

I can now use these ten wagons again.. but this account doesn't own a lot of modern cards...

So I need to start from scratch, needing to buy the wagons and I need so much DEC already to expand my deck and to put on land, this will be a slow process buying the wagon kits from other players.

Currently the price varies just under $6 each, I bought my first wagon for just over $5 before the conflicts started but of course now the demand has increased.

So, for now I'm left with one account with wagons and no cards, and one account with ONE wagon so far and plenty of cards. 😆

The question is... can this still be called an airdrop?

Airdrops in the world of crypto are free when you participate in a certain ecosystem, however - to participate in the conflicts, players have to create or purchase Battle Wagons. Only players pretty well invested in to land can create them on their own since creating wagon kits requires Aura.

I'm the owner of 15 land plots but still working on getting them all online which is pretty expensive, creating Aura requires research which requires more resources.. it's an awesome system but I'm just not at all ready to create my own research, let alone Aura 😅.

So... the only other option to participate is buy the wagon kits from other players.

Still, like many things in Splinterlands, even if you're a smaller player, there are ways to participate, and you can work your way up by blogging, earning, reinvesting, and building over time.

That’s what I’m doing, using the rewards from posts like this one to eventually buy more wagons and strengthen my position.

Thanks for reading, and best of luck out there in the Conflicts!

Is it an airdrop? huh I guess I never really thought about that but your right I guess it's really not. But then again I am not sure what else to really call it though because the cards will get "airdropped" to your account IF you meet the criteria and the RNG gods are in your favor..

That’s a very valid point—and one that’s often underestimated. Brawls / Tournaments, blogging, and engaging in other parts of the ecosystem can absolutely help you grow your account over time. It might be a slower path, but it’s steady and sustainable, especially for smaller players looking to build their way up. 💪
