Splat: Testing out the new automated marketplace

Hey everyone, yet another Splinterlands post today but not about a battle, it's about a new service I am testing out with my blogging earnings from the last weeks, it is an automated marketplace called Splat, made by @phanty in which you can configure just about anything to make your own buying strategy, Splat looks at the 14 days average card price and buys and sells automatically when it finds good deals, when a card price drops it can reprice the card every 6 to 24 hours as well to stay competitive.

While this all sounds great, in the world of crypto we have to be cautious and over the years I have become a bit skeptical about things that look good but that doesn't mean we have to ignore, just think about what you are doing...

The 'problem' I had was unlike giving your posting key to bots that battles for you in Wild League, this bot actually spends your DEC so it requires your Active key and I wasn't comfortable sharing those for my bigger accounts.

But this is the good thing about Hive and Splinterlands, I think most players over the years have more than one account and so do I, so I got one of my mostly empty alt accounts ready to test out Splat. This way there isn't a lot of danger because it doesn't own many cards, Hive or SPS and most is locked or staked anyway.

I'm a nerd and I like things like this so I just HAD to test this out, so I created my accounts and made a config to test out this service, it turns out there is a Ultimate Guide for beginning on Splat but by that time I didn't see that, everything is very intuitive I must say so without problems I could set up everything and after transferring about 20k DEC to this account, the bot started to buy cards with the configuration I gave it.

Today is day three of using this service and so far Splat bought 64 cards for me, sold 19 with a profit of 79 cents and a average profit margin of 31.84%

When you look on the site under Strategy you can actually just create configs but I only found at later, looking at my sales however it's clear that it's primarily Modern cards that are selling fast so instead of selecting all editions to be bought and sold I have now only selected the Moderns sets, including Foundation.

Tip: when you're setting up your own config from scratch, be sure to exclude Soulkeep cards - you don't want to buy cards for a game that's not working, imo this set shouldn't be selectable at all.

The best sale I had so far was a 106% profit on Meriput Mossmender.

The realization of only selecting Modern cards to be bought and sold only came today, and services like this just require time because you need buyers for your cards but that's okay, I can be patient. 😇
