Out-Scavenging the Poison dropped on my Weaver!

Hey everyone, and welcome back to my Splinterlands blog! It's how I opened most of my Splinterlands Challenges posts for the last years, making two of these every week but for some reason they stopped at the start of the new year and inspired by my guild mate, I just started to blog about my favorite game by myself, just because I like playing and something special happens almost every day plus I like to talk - well... write about my favorite game, and cycling as well but that's not today's topic! 😄

What I like about the Tactics Archons is that our strategy can be adapted when we see the enemy team, for example I just had a battle where I PLANNED to give the Taunt ability from Risqruel to Mantaroth, thinking with the 'everyone has the Void ability' not a lot of magic would be played in this match so my Mantaroth with the Shield ability would be great to have Taunt, healed by Inept Healer while killing off the other team, yeah well that was until I looked at the other team...

I hate when players go opposite of what's logical, and it's quite effective sometimes too! That Barashkukor with SIX magic damage and the Ferocity ability would instantly wipe out my Mantaroth and then Azahr behind it as well so I needed to adapt to conquer... that Barashkukor needed to be killed A.S.A.P!
So instead of putting Taunt defensively on Mantaroth, I put it on Barashkukor!

My opponent brought a Taunt of its own I had to get through first but my Grove Doomblade has Ferocity as well, really helpful!

Link to battle.

After taking care of the Taunts and the enemy healer it was an easy win but I don't think I would have won when I didn't adapt...
To be honest I wasn't even planning to talk about this specific battle but I'm just rambling on about Splinterlands... 😅

That's NOT cool Mister!

Or Madam, I don't know 😆 but what I mean is... when an opponent adapts to MY team, that's not cool - don't interfere with my plans! LOL

So, yesterday I was facing a much higher level opponent and because of the lack of more available Splinters, I chose to go with Cryptic which tactics I always use depending on the other team, I usually got with the Poison / Expose and try to spread around the Poison as much as I can but sometimes I have to take care of units with Void or Shield so I have to Expose them.

My opponent used Underboss Fabino, an Archon I don't see a lot - I own it too at Silver level and it's great but many times there are better options so I too don't use it a lot.
So after seeing my team, my opponent adapted and didn't give the +2 melee damage to the tank but dropped poison on my Weaver, that NOT cool!

They did make one mistake, do you see it?

Using a Taunt in a Ferocity rule set isn't the best strategy 😄

image.png

I was sure this would be a loss without my healer that surely would die quickly from the poison and the Stonebind Matron with opportunity would finish it off, there goes my strategy. 😣

Well I brought some poison of my own so right back at you, enjoy! 😄

Barashkukor was the first to fire and killed that Taunt instantly so the start was good, but my Healer was close to death in round 2!
Good thing I brought a Silence so that opportunity monster wouldn't kill my healer right away but that poison would surely kill it in the start of round 3...

NOPE!

Guess again! 😆

Arachne Weaver was able to out-scavenge the poison damage and the opportunity monster was killed by MY opportunity before it was able to fire so this is going a lot better than expected, now there's only two enemy monsters left with my entire team still alive, and my healer will probably die from the poison after all but now at least I have a solid chance, that 4 magic damage every round will take a while to get though the first two units in my team, but that LAST STAND can cause problems in the end... I'm still having bad dreams from Llama / Kron line-ups I was facing when I started playing Splinterlands 🤣 no I am kidding I am not but it was very strong, at least this monster doesn't have a healing ability like Kron.

image.png

Lord Thanalor was quickly dealt with and my healer got a Scavenge health point after all to survive another round of poison, very nice! But with Thanalor killed, there goes the last stand, doubling the attack and giving 50% more health points...

Kinda sad the healer was killed by the poison in the end but it saved the day with its Scavenge ability, keeping my team alive. Mantaroth finished it off, another win for me!

You can watch the battle unfold for yourself here.

I think I am earning a lot more Glint this season than I did last season, I'm not sure why... the 3 SPS for a win is nice as well 😊

Well, that's it for today's Splinter Talk, thanks for stopping by and I hopefully see you on my next post!

a healer who getting power from the death? such a bold ability, and this is one of the card that I started to hate already when in use by my opponent.
