Hey everyone! It's time for another Splinterlands blog post, it's been a couple of days where I've been too busy with work and regular daily life to make a daily post about this awesome game, I just didn't feel any inspiration and it doesn't work to just make a post because I have to make a post...
I just got home from work and this was my second battle, it's definitely not the first time it happened I just click 'skip battle' because no way I could win against a max level Nidhogr team, there's nothing I hate as much as Nidhogr because I have found ways to deal with every other team but I fail to find a solid team that's strong enough to counter this team.
It was quite the interesting battle and it almost give me a headache going through all the different options in my head...

I think every experienced Splinterlands player runs options in their heads and think about what's available, well that 92 mana just screams to use the mana expensive Dragons, but I ALSO wanted to make use of a Corrupted Healer so that was either Arachne Weaver in the Death team or Inept Healer in the Fire team.
It didn't end here because with the 'Are You Not Entertained' ruleset we were allowed to use a Gladiator as well and because of the 'Thick Skinned' ruleset, giving everyone the Shield ability a magic heavy team needs to be used so I also really REALLY wanted to use Quora...
Soooo... Dragon and Earth for Quora AND either Fire or Death for a corrupted healer was one splinter too many, choices... choices SO MANY CHOICES!!!
So, this was the end result of all my brain work and when I was done I only had 30 seconds on the timer left.

My opponent has a lot of really nice cards at levels I don't so I'm starting with a BIG disadvantage here. That level 2 Rage is amazing but also very expensive, too expensive for me with currently $23 per copy and because it's a Rebellion card there's 'only' 1 year left for it to be able to play in the Modern League before another rotation happens and Rebellion is pushed out of Modern and replaced for a new main set.
This is exactly the same for buying Nidhogr, it really has been upgraded when it had been changed recently and now got even stronger and it would be a good thing to buy it myself but it's too expensive when I look at the year in Modern left. I totally understand why my friend @estebam bought Nidhogr - he couldn't find a reliable counter as well so he just figured 'when I can't beat 'em... JOIN THEM!' 😆
Also, that Grimbardun Smith with Void is great for games like this, I totally get the idea behind the team they made, using the tank with Flank so Quora is also able to hit with the Melee attack. Putting Zyrx so far in the back however can really bite you in the ass with that burning on longer battles, and this will be a big, furious and nasty battle for sure!
With my deck I had the choice in using either Akane with the Ambush tactic or Sheng Xiao to give Poison Burst to who of my monsters, I chose Xiao because I like the poison damage in longer battles like this.
Because of the Burning biting me in the ass I decided to put Zyrx up front, he probably won't live for very long but that's fine... Rage is second with the Void ability and I gave it Phase with my new card Zarin I recently bought, it's awesome!
The choice for Night Reaper wasn't very hard, I didn't had a lot of high mana - high HP monsters with a good amount of magic damage left, Barashkukor was an easy choice as well with its high attack damage but it had to be put in the back of my team because it's a glass cannon.
Corrupted Healing is so very important in the current meta I'm building my teams around this option or when I expect my opponent to use it, I think of ways I can hunt their healer with opportunity hunter killers... 🙂
DAMN when I make Splinterlands posts I just start rambling and before I know it I'm 700 words in, so let's get to the action part already.

As expected, my Zyrx didn't even make it to the end of round one but the bad thing was Quora made the kill so her bloodlust started to gear up, fortunately the enemy tank was also quickly killed and in round 2 Quora was killed as well PLUS... the burning started in the back of that team so this is starting to become interesting!
OUCH! That really takes it's toll...

At the start of round 3 my Rage got killed so that was a bad moment, the Phase didn't do much because most of the enemy team have high speed as well and in round 4, there's wasn't a lot left in both of our teams!

Also in round 4 however, the fight quickly worsened for my opponent and Zyrx and Grimbardun both got killed and at the start of round 5, it was Night Reaper making the final kill.
This was truly an epic battle worth to make a post about!

You can watch the battle unfold for yourself here.

Well, I did manage to get a couple of battles in before leaving for work this morning but with 39 energy left and 3 daily wins to go for my next daily reward, I've got some more grinding to do - can't let that energy go to waste!

Nice battle, these two summoners are my second and third favorites after Tofu in Modern :)

That is pretty interesting. I have never know that they will be pushed out, but they still be playable in Wild isn't it?
So long term speaking int he modern, is it better to buy the Conclave set instead? but ayear is still alogn time though.
