Hey everyone, while I'm doing my daily battles for Splinterlands, I'll try and keep up the momentum for a couple of posts a week as well because there's enough to talk about!
Last Thursday I was able to push in to Gold 1 and had a really nice promotion reward, in the chests on top I received the common jackpot card Shadowcomb Duskrose, which isn't that great at level 1 compared to the mana cost and the other options in my deck but still, it's an extra card I didn't own yet.

But the real surprise was in the chests at the bottom, it shaked strangely I thought it was a glitch until I could see what was inside, Hrolfa!

Currently a $4 card but I'm not planning on selling, it's a great addition to my deck and has awesome synergy with Elias and I can now stack the protect together with the Nimbledook Explorer in the Life splinter, but also when Life is not available I can now still use the protect from Hrolfa, this cards now always makes me think about Vinnie - @bravetofu's creation on YouTube and TikTok, there is a short - in short shorts about Ralph, or Hrolfa which is pretty funny, check it out here and please give this awesome channel a follow while you're at it.

One of my best synergies is Elias / Slade without a doubt so I started experimenting with this new option, I already did a couple of those battles but just now I had a really nice one against a max level player, so I was at a disadvantage but still this new team did really well, let me show you what I mean 🙂...

This is a 42 mana Modern League battle with only three splinters open the choice for me easy, especially with the Maneuvers ruleset in which I could safely tuck Slade behind my Alpine Skink, unfortunately the Neutral splinter was locked out so I couldn't use Mantaroth as my tank, I put both Hrolfa and the Explorer safely in the back so hopefully they would last a couple of rounds and let Slade do it's thing, my Tidal Tsunamist was there to repair armor if needed to allow Slade to keep using it's double attack so at the start of the battle, Slade being the fastest unit on the battlefield opens the fight with a 16 damage mind boggling hit WITH piercing... good luck in stopping that!
The retaliate destroyed 5 armor but the second retaliate missed, to my Tsunamist now had a job to repair the armor asap.

With that kind of damage, it's not a surprise the entire front of the enemy team was deleted at the start of round 2 and by the end of round 2 only the two archers were alive, and only one could still attack and heal it's companion.

The healing and shield abilities did postpone it's inevitable death another round, but Slade does more damage than it was able to heal so it was another win for my team, the rewards are quite nice in high Gold 2, low Gold 1 at around 500 glint and 5 SPS per win.

And just so you know, although I only post about my successes in battle, it's perfectly normal for every Splinterlands player to hit a losing streak every now and then, apparently I had hit my max rating for the time and I started going down, and I don't mind because at a lower rating the tides will turn once again, yesterday I had a losing streak that still went on this morning, NINE in a row! 😅
Just have fun building your teams and enjoy the wins you do have, and two hours later I was back at 2500 rating again, so probably I will start losing soon because every end of season I end somewhere between 2400 and 2680 and there's still 6 days left in this season.
