Hello everyone and welcome back to my Splinterlands blog, and there's enough to talk about this week because it's been an awesome week.

Something strange is still going on, or rather the lack of something going on really because no new Splinterlands challenges has been launched for two weeks now, so players just started to post their newly made blog posts in the last Social Media Challenge post there is, and because I like Splinterlands in so many ways including making posts I will just do the same! 😆

First Black Foil ever pulled

With only 43 entries I pulled my first ever black foil in the frontier draw so that was truly amazing it's a very pretty card. And it's not that I wasn't happy with it but as a Splinterlands player with so many things we can invest in I took the decision to sell this lovely card because in Frontier Mode, a black foil doesn't bring any extra rewards and it will take a long time before I can use a max level epic card because my archons are all still at level 2, so I've put it up for sale and it sold a day later for $10.

With this money I bought a card that would better serve my team, another Dragon card - welcome Zarin!

At level 2 it gives Phase to the unit in front, it's awesome when you expect magic heavy teams and I have a nice battle to show this later in this post so I can explain! 🙂

Guild Upgrade & Looking for Gold Foil Brawlers

Together with some other guild members, we have been working to upgrade the Arena so we would go up to the next Brawl tier, we were still fighting in Tier 1 and it really was time to promote since it became very easy to dominate every single time, the stats are pretty nice.

So when we were still discussing who would want to participate in the donations to bring this building to the next level which required 30k in DEC, and a couple of members including myself already made same smaller donations of a couple thousand DEC each, @cherokee4life logged in and instantly leveled up the building by donating the remaining 18k DEC to the Arena so a big thank you and a shout out to him, you're awesome mate!

For me as the guild leader, managing who goes in which fray a new puzzle needed to be solved because our Brawl Fray list was no longer valid, we not only went up in tier but we now also have two more frays and some changed compared to tier 1 so this needed some thinking... 😅

I keep my lists of everything I need to remember as a text file on my PC, I wonder how other guild managers do this. 😄

Some changes has been made, and some modern players moved to wild which in hindsight I think most are pretty happy with, because it really is so much fun playing with older cards!
My main account had quite a lot of unused wild cards so I spent the next two hours puzzling to make my guild buddies decks more competitive so we hopefully also will kick ass in Tier 2, I'm not expecting to be in the top 3 anymore which is OK because the rewards are much better even at lower positions, I know this because of Legion 1 which already is fighting in Tier 2 for a long time now.

Looking for Gold Foil brawlers!

The Wild Silver fray can be filled I think by @maximusmx, a Legion 1 member without a fray spot now so hopefully they're willing to switch guilds, but we still have two open Gold Foil frays so if anyone has an alt account or Gold Foil cards doing nothing, please let me know and come join us, we're awesome! 😁

Sharing a Battle...

Of course this post needs an awesome battle to show off my new card!

This battle was fought earlier this week and I was still experimenting with Zarin, seeing this player's recently played teams I knew there was a big chance of going up against Lorkus with a magic heavy team which I would usually counter with a double or triple Silence team using Cryptic, but experimenting is fun!

First look at the battlefield:

I was right! So this will be fun....

My Line-Up:

• Archon: Sheng Xiao - reason: Access to the Dragons.
• First position: Commander Slade - reason: Fast and Vicious!
• Second position: Zarin the Scorch - reason: Good magic attacker and Phase Ward for Slade.
• Third position: Rage - reason: More magic protection.
• Fourth position: Shock Trooper - reason: Speed management.
• Fifth position: Endura Brune - reason: Silence.
• Sixth position: Anast Soothsayer - reason: Cleanse and Healing.

So this really is an all out Lorkus counter, silencing attack power, using Void and Phase to fight the magic damage and using Cleanse and Heal to fight the Affliction...

The Battle:

Ambush and Tactics round: Well as good start is half the work is a saying in my country and that's already one miss on Slade, let's keep this up!

Round 1: Wow that was a round of all-misses, I didn't expect this to work THAT well!

Round 2: Barashkukor landed it's attack, leeching 3 life from Slade, that was bad and hopefully Slade dodges enough this can be healed back up again.

Round 3: One hit, the rest all misses....

Round 4: The zapps from the Shock Trooper and Spell Reflects killed the Trooper but that doesn't matter now.

Round 5: That Gold Foil Emberguard hasn't landed a single attack in this entire fight. 😄

Round 6: Slade, being the MVP finished the battle, a win for me!
