In Splinterlands, those who can afford better and more cards, tend to have an edge in winning as they have more variety in their strategies to work with. Obviously, it would still take skills to win, but having more cards definitely increase your chances of winning.
But what if you don't have much to spend and cannot afford to buy cards? Then you are probably the same as me, someone who rent cards to climb through the ranks.
There is nothing shameful about renting, as a matter of fact, it is a legitimate strategy until you earn enough to afford your own cards. Sometimes, it might be more cost-effective to rent cards than buy cards.
Enough said. I wanted to share some cheap rental cards from each element (including Neutral) that you can consider to rent, at a cheap cost of 0.1 DEC per day, per card.
You can choose to rent all or you can choose to rent what you need.
If you are a new player starting out, I would recommend you to expose yourself to different cards through rental instead of buying cards. Every card game player has a specific playing style they enjoy, find the one that most suits you. Additionally, it is also through playing different cards that you slowly learn about each splinter, and also different cards and it will give you new ideas for different strategies.
Neutral Cards | Remarks | Preferences |
---|---|---|
Sand Worm | Good for Reverse Speed, Blast and High Mana matches | Works for all Splinters |
Battering Ram | Good for Reverse Speed, Low Mana matches | Fire and Water Splinters |
Goblin Mech | Good for Armor Matches or against Water Splinter, High Mana matches | Fire and Water Splinters |
Gelatinous Cube | Good for Noxious Fumes matches | Works for all Splinters |
Elven Cutthroat | Good card for Sneak setups, cheaper alternative to Uraeus | Fire Splinter |
!
Earth Cards | Remarks | Preferences |
---|---|---|
Wood Nymph | Good for Reverse Speed, and Low Mana matches | Use with or replace Goblin Psychic |
Goblin Sorcerer | Good for Low Mana matches, Good to take out opponent with similar setup as it tackles backlines | Can use in backline to protect Goblin Psychic |
Fire Cards | Remarks | Preferences |
---|---|---|
Kobold Miner | Good for Low Mana matches and works well with other neutral sneak cards | Place it in front of Serpentine Spy (SS) or behind SS if predict opponent to use Sneak monsters |
Ant Miners | Good for Reverse Speed, Low Mana matches | Put as secondary tank while sneak team wipes enemy backline |
Flame Monkey | Good for Reverse Speed, Low Mana matches | Good cheap mana card, rent only if you can afford |
Water Cards | Remarks | Preferences |
---|---|---|
Kelp Initiate | Good for Low Mana matches, Crazy good with Kelya | Use as front tank with Demented Shark as support if you are not going with Serpent of Eld or Diemonshark |
Demented Shark | Crazy good to boost sneak and/or opportunity set-up | Put as secondary tank to have a longer lasting effect |
Venari Wavesmith | Good well rounded card if you need that extra armor or magic firepower | Use as backline so that every monster in front of it gets armor until it is killed |
Pelacor Bandit | Good for Earthquake matches | Better sneak card than Sabre Shark |
Sabre Shark | Good basic sneak card | No need to rent if you are already renting neutral sneak cards as you don't need that many |
Obviously there are other cards you can rent to net you more victory, but this article is sharing with you cards you can consider (or might have mislooked) which might increase your chances of victory by a few %, just by spending a few decimal places of DEC.
In subsequent parts of the series, I will share
In case you are wondering, I rent all my cards to climb (I do not own many cards other than the ones I win, which I then sold for more DEC). With the current economy, card values are only going to keep dropping and to optimize your earnings, it is best to sell your cards. That's why I am mostly renting and not holding on to any cards.
I plan to own cards once the general sale and card prices hit rocket low, that would be the best time to start being a owner of cards. Until then, I stand by my renting strategy.
I will try to share any information to the best of my knowledge.
Thank you for reading.
