I have been watching the Pokemon cards in high demand in recent months and it has grown on me. I have been searching on ebay and stores for msrp prices of card packs and boxes where I can. As I dived deep into the card games and how many series/sets it has printed I noticed an interesting pattern. There were multiple years where Pokemon made reprints of a series and labelled them anniversary sets.
Even with all the repeated cards being printed the value of legacy cards was still high in value which got me thinking. In a physical card game the older the card got the more likely it's value increased. What can Splinterlands learn and apply toward increasing asset values?

Why not create tournaments where only specific legacy cards are allow to be used in battle. For example battles where only Alpha and Beta are allow to be used. Then the rewards have to be enticing for enough participants to join.
Let the rewards be enticing and one of a kind making these tournaments limited time and specific to celebrations such as anniversary. Bottom line it is not trying to produce more cards but use what the ecosystem has left and use revive demand to some degree.
There seems to be a lot of legacy cards going stall. Having another form of utility with anniversary battles may increase demand and therefore prices?
Thanks for reading this post!
I do think it might be interesting to make those tournaments, but I just don't think the amount of people who can enter them makes it worthwhile. The prices of those legacy cards are quite high too.
