Voss: The Boss in Wands Out Ruleset!

Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome back to my blog!

Voss is a card I have that I rarely use. This is because I haven't found a good synergy for him yet in my battles. He has the Bloodline Tribute ability but I don't have other magic Avian units to fully benefit from it. Also, my Voss is only at level one and has poor stats. I even wrote a post about non meta cards that included Voss. I know that the card is good so I looked for other players who use him in battles. In today's post, we'll go deeper into his lore, his stats and abilities as well as a sample battle where he is used effectively.

Lore

Voss accidentally set his family’s nest on fire when he was young, causing his parliament to fear the fire magic within him. Through years of meditation and discipline, he learned to control his flames. He used them to protect the forest, heal wounds and prevent disasters rather than cause them. Over time, he became a respected leader and symbol of hope among the owlkin. He proved that dangerous power could serve a greater purpose. When Mahkah Hemlig threatened the forests of Sylvaras, Voss was among the first to volunteer. Now he marches into battle determined to save the land.

Stats and Abilities

At level one, Voss doesn't offer much with unimpressive stats and ability. At best, he can fill a slot in low mana battles like in my previous post. From level two, he starts to get better but his sweet spot for Silver and Gold players is at level three where he increases his magic attack to two and already possess the Void ability. This makes him a good tank in Wands Out rulesets as he decreases magic attacks received. At maxed levels, he's true potential as an anti magic tank comes out. He deals three magic damage and has six health. He gains the Magic Reflect ability and together with Void, makes him a great anti magic tank in low mana battles.

My Voss is at level one and I should strive to get him to level three and he'll find regular slots in my battles.

Featured Battle

The battle occurred in the high levels of Gold League. The rulesets included Wands Out, Equalizer and Shapeshift Happens. Player Charok had a level three Voss as his tank. He used the Earth's, Kaylia Silverleaf as his archon. She's a smart choice under the rulesets since she decreases the enemy magic attack. She also grants the powerful Execute ability to all units under this ruleset. His team has good synergy and packed with cards that has a role to fulfill. His damage dealer include Ballista Deadshot and Mahkah Hemlig, both deal high magic damage. He has the Inept Healer to sustain the team. The legendary dragon card, Kaori Matsune decreases the enemy's magic attack with Silence ability while Zargrul draws enemy attacks with Taunt ability. He also had the Bloodline Tribute ability that will benefit all allies because of the ruleset.

The enemy chose the Fire archon Fithe Bladestone. Under the Shapeshift Happens ruleset, he grants the Void ability to all units. He also has units with Silence ability. However, his damage dealers were weaker than Charok's and this spelled the difference in this battle. Charok had the better synergy with cards that had abilities to Taunt, Bloodline Dominion and Heal while also having higher attack overall. It was a long fight but eventually, Charok outlasted his enemy.
