Thunderhoof Nomad: Earth Splinter's Key Card in Explosive Weaponry!

Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome back to my blog!

Thunderhoof Nomad is one of Earth splinter's unassuming cards. She doesn't deal much damage but she more than makes up for her lack of attack with her abilities that make her a key card in certain rulesets like Explosive Weaponry. In today's post, well go through her lore, her stats & abilities and show a battle where I used her effectively.

Lore

The Thunderhoof Nation’s centaurs are a proud people. They are renowned for their mastery of horse breeding, agriculture, herbal medicine and handcrafted weapons and textiles. The are living in harmony with the plains and forests of Praetoria. They once thrived by following the rhythms of nature and migrating herds. However, the arrival of the Chaos Empire destroyed their homeland and its armies destroyed the land and drained resources. With their survival threatened, the Thunderhoof Nation now rises alongside Praetoria’s rebellion, preparing for a final and desperate stand against the forces of the Chaos Legion.

Stats and Abilities

The Thunderhoof Nomad is a three mana, rare card of the Earth splinter. At maxed levels, it deals two magic damage, has four health and three speed. It's attack is modest but makes up for it with her abilities. Her Deflect ability make her an important card in Explosive Weaponry ruleset where she blocks the effects of Blast damage. Second, her Strengthen ability increases the whole team's health. Third, she has the Triage ability to heal backline units. This makes her a good card to combo with Taunt units.

My Thunderhoof Nomad is at level five. She only has one attack but her two abilities make her a good support unit in certain rulesets.

Featured Battle

The battle had the Explosive Weaponry ruleset. I chose the Earth splinter led by the elf archon Kaylia Silverleaf. In first position I had the Quilliun Legionary. It's two abilities Thorns and Void make it a great non melee tank. In second, I had the Thunderhoof Nomad. She has the Deflect ability to block Blast and Strengthen that increased the team's health by one. In third I had an elf card Silverleaf Warlock. He increases the team's speed by one with his Swiftness ability. In addition, he gets the Execute ability granted by the archon to all elves. In fourth, I had the Frontier card Sorrow Harvester. Her Weaken ability decreases the enemy's health by one. In fifth is another elf, Aranduriel. In last position is the Living Berm who deals four range damage.

The enemy had a powerful legendary archon: Elias Max Pruitt. He grants additional melee attack and armor to all units and grants the Armored Strike and Piercing ability to one unit. The enemy had an impressive line up including the new legendary card, Lorn in his team. He had a couple support cards with Tank Heal and Repair abiities to sustain his tank. At first glance, it would seem that I would lose this battle.

I had the advantage of blocking Blast damage with my Thunderhoof Nomad. Further, the enemy had a Taunt unit in second position which spread the effects of Blast further. The elves's Execute ability also worked in my favor, hastening the enemy's demise.

Placing Thunderhoof Nomad in second position because of its deflect ability, was a very smart strategy. Kudos warrior!
