Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: Opening Conclave Arcana Packs

Hello Everyone! While Conclave Arcana went live during the season, it felt like a new season started since with Chaos Legion out of Modern League, it sure felt like starting the game from scratch again. There were new mechanics to be learned, new synergies and new rulesets. I was lucky to have enough Rebellion reward cards in my deck. I also bought some packs, not many but enough to scratch my itch of opening packs. I just bought ten standard packs for $10 to get one copy of Arcane Skinwalker, I also had a slim chance of winning the raffle though my expectations were not high. So, when Conclave Arcana I immediately claimed my promo card and opened my packs. Here are the cards I got so far.

First pack

My first pack contained a gold foil! It's just a common but I'm happy nonetheless. It's already level three. I also got a Happy Quokka which was one of my desired cards.

Second pack

The second pack gave me four rare cards! Even the common Caravan Guard is a decent card needing only three mana. I particularly like low mana cards since they are easy to find slots in battles.

Third Pack

The third pack gave me two epic cards and a rare. Both epics are useful cards judging from their stats and abilities. I also like the rare card, Canary Keeper, being a two mana card.

Fourth Pack

The fourth pack gave only one rare but the commons are good ones. Steppe Stalker can play tank while Vicious Giraffe will be a decent second position card. Thunderous Herald does two magic damage for a common card. Stampeding Calf will be easy to slot in with only three mana. The rare card, Swiftbeard Stout will be great if I can find a card with Triage to pair it with.

Fifth Pack

My first legendary card! Moribund Arrowbait does Ranged and Magic damage and is an Ulund. She will synergize well with the Light splinter Archon. She has an ability similar to Martyr that will benefit only units of the same bloodline.

Sixth Pack

The sixth pack game me one epic card. Abyssmal Elemental looks like it can play tank or second position. It will need to level up to be a decent card though.

Seventh Pack

Another legendary! Oridum Graybrow looks like a good tank with Thorns ability. I also got a Calabash Sage who does four ranged damage at level one. She is also an Ulund so she can work well with the Light splinter archon.

Eighth Pack

The eighth pack yielded my first Archon. It's Gorgug the Endless of the Water splinter. He debuffs the enemy ranged attack by one similar to Quix the Devious. He also grants the Enrage ability to orcs.

Ninth Pack

The ninth pack gave me another epic card and a gold foil Archon! Razi Clanktrap gives the Close Range ability to ranged units and also the Painforge ability to Gnomes. Leolin Sifu was one of my desired cards. She does three melee damage though slow with only two speed. She has six armor and eight health for sustainability. She can be a good tank at bronze levels.

Tenth Pack

I got another Archon from the tenth pack. This time it's the Light splinter Archon, Bella Ratajowlski, a bit hard to pronounce. I have a lot of Ulunds in my deck so having her is a must.

Summary

In summary, from the ten packs I bought. I got the promo card, Arcane Skinwalker, two legendaries, four epics, three archons including a gold foil and some decent rare and common cards. Not a bad haul and I feel I came out on top on this deal. On the other hand, I now regret that I only bought ten packs. I now feel the FOMO and will have to scrape some funds to buy more packs if not individual cards. I'm also on the lookout for affordable cards in the market that will add to my deck. It's exciting to play Splinterlands again. Not just for earning SPS but the desire to own cards and build a competitive deck is there.
