Splinterlands Social Media Challenge! Battles and Strategies

Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to another edition of Social Media Challenge! Today, I will present several battles and the teams and strategies that I thought of when forming my team. I took into account the ruleset, the available splinters, max mana and the recent teams my opponent used.

Battle 1 - Against a Higher Level Opponent

In this battle, the max mana is only fifteen, limiting the choice of units. In these types of battles, I either use Earth or Death because they have the best low mana units. Death in particular has the Cursed Windeku who has the Thorns and Heal abilities, ideal for low mana battles. On the other hand, I saw that my opponent also uses the Death splinter and has the higher level units. I know that my units are no match for his so I took a gamble and decided to use Dragon instead, giving me an advantage in speed. Sure his units have more stats and abilities but in this case I have no choice but to use any advantage that I can.

We used the same units with my opponent having the advantage in stats and abilities. I used Quix which only equalized my speed with my opponent's. Other than that, my opponent has all the advantages.

My Cursed Windeku was eliminated first but I got lucky in the final hit when my Shadow Snitch attacked first in the one on one battle and eliminated my opponent's unit giving me the victory.

Battle 2 - Gladiator Cards Allowed

The next one is another low mana battle. It's an earthquake ruleset and allows Gladiator cards to be used. I have no decent flying units to use so I debated between using Death with my favorite Cursed Windeku or Fire where I can use my strongest Gladiator card, a gold foil level three Fina Voxom. I chose the latter.

I put the Halfling Refugee as my tank and my key card Fina in second position. With her Opportunity ability and high damage, she will surely one shot low health enemy units triggering her Bloodlust ability. I also put Firecaller in last position to boost Fina with her Martyr ability.

My opponent chose the Death splinter with Cursed Windeku as his key card. It's a logical choice given the low mana battle and Cursed Windeku's self heal ability.

The battle went as expected. Fina got an immediate boost on her first kill and another when Firecaller was eliminated. By the time she was against Cursed Windeku, she had enough power to one shot the enemy tank giving me the victory.

Battle 3 - High Mana, High Damage Battle

In this battle, I'm facing another higher level opponent. It's a high mana battle but with Briar Patch ruleset meaning it discouraged me from using my best melee units. Instead I picked high damage magic and ranged units. I used the Rebellion reward cards Night Reaper and Syrenth who are finding regular slots in my battles because of their utility. In the tank position, I picked another Rebellion reward card, Commander Slade. He's a very strong tank and immune to Thorns at level four.

My opponent also has a Commander Slade on tank position but his is only at level one and affected by Thorns. He has a strong Runemancer Kye in his team who has the Life Leech ability coupled with her high damage output making her hard to eliminate. My opponent's Nerissa Tridawn is at level four, having a high magic damage of four.

The battle was not easy. My Night Reaper kept damaging the opponent's Runemancer Kye but it kept getting healed by his Angelic Mandarin and its Life Leech ability. Meanwhile, my tank was eliminated by his level seven Diemonshark. It got a bit dangerous when my Nerissa Tridawn was eliminated. Luckily, my archer was Gargoya Devil who has the Close Range ability and did damage to his magic unit. The battle ended when opponent's remaining unit was an archer who cannot do damage from the first position.

Final Thoughts

In all the battles, my opponent had the higher level summoner. With the proper strategy and a bit of luck, I was able to pull off victories. This is what makes Splinterlands a fun game to play. Stronger units don't guarantee victories, you still have to devise strategies based on the ruleset to get the better of your opponent.
