Hello Splinterlands summoners! Our guild just finished another Brawl. It seems our performance is not that consistent since we ranked at the bottom again. I'll be sharing our Brawl performance, my Gladius Pack purchases and my favorite battles.
Our guild was in rank eighth in our recent Brawl. We won sixty nine battles and lost forty eight. We earned seventy two crowns that can be used to improve our buildings.
My own performance was good. I won six battles out of nine, contributing eighteen points. We each earned 3,700 merits and 46 SPS.
I saved over six thousand Merits which I used to buy three Gladius cases. Each case contain five cards with one guaranteed rare or higher. This means that I will have fifteen new cards in my collection with the possibility to upgrade some of my cards.
This time I got lucky and pulled another legendary. Xulax Nightwind is a Death legendary card. I already have two copies so this means that I can upgrade him to level two!
After this purchase, I was able to upgrade two cards: Captain Katie and Xulax Nightwind.
Captain Katie is one of the strong damage dealer rare cards. I upgraded her to level four where she gained another magic attack. This puts her total attack to four.
Xulax Nightwind is a legendary tank. Upgrading him to level two increased his melee attack to four. He also gained another valuable ability as a tank: Thorns. He already has great defense with seven armor and health. He also has Void Armor to defend against magic attacks. Gaining Thorns ability makes him a great defender against melee attacks as well.
In this battle, there are no particular rulesets. The mana is limited to 31 and we can use Fire, Water, Light and Dragon splinters. Since the battle is rather low mana, I chose Fire where I have my favorite low mana combo. I also used my strong Gladiator card Fina Voxom.
The Cavewise Wayfinder/Vicious Giraffe/Portly Cannoneer combo is one of my favorites especially in low mana battles. This battle is also perfect to include Fina since she is a melee attacker. Completing my team are Swiftbeard Stout with his Taunt ability and a one mana card, Surly Drunk.
My opponent also picked the Fire Splinter with almost the same combo but his Giraffe doesn't have the Painforge ability. To his advantage, he has an Emberguard that debuffed my melee attacks.
My opponent also chose Dorfar Darflak as an archon which did not give any buffs. On the other hand, my archon provided two armor to my team upgrading their defense. This is a huge advantage for me and led to my victory.
In this battle, the ruleset was Keep Your Distance. The max mana was fifty six and the available splinters are Water, Earth and Light. I chose Earth because I expected my opponent to use magic and the Earth archon, Kaylia Silverleaf debuffs enemy magic attacks. Choosing Earth also gave me the opportunity to use my other favorite combo: Kaylia and elf units. Kaylia's Bloodline Dominion buff grants Execute ability to elves. This is a very powerful ability that led to my win in a lot of battles. For my Gladiator card, I chose Edith Emberstar. She deals a devastating five ranged damage and she's an elf that benefits from Kaylia's buff.
My opponent chose a team composed of mostly magic attackers, as expected. I'm glad that I picked Earth and had an advantage. He has a legendary card in front that has a Bloodline Tribute ability. It's similar to Martyr but only works on the same bloodline. In third position he has a ranged attacker which I found a bit odd. Maybe he wants to take advantage of its Shield ability to use as a tank but in my opinion it would be better to place it in the bank since it deals a lot of damage.
My units made quick work of my opponent's. Edith especially is an offensive power. She triggered her Execute and Bloodlust abilities and disposed of enemy units quickly. My other units are no slouch either and did damage to the enemy.
