Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome back to my blog!
Modern season 97 has just concluded. I had a good season finishing in Diamond League and landing in rank 16 of the Gold League. As a result, I earned a bonus of 50k Glints!

By the end of the season, I have over 200k glints to spend. I bought some alchemy potions and two legendary chests.
Like the previous season I will spend my glints to buy two legendary reward chests. I'm building my legendary line up and the legendary reward chest is the easiest way to get them. Unfortunately, they are very expensive at 70k glints each so I can only afford two. First, I bought alchemy potions to increase my chances of getting gold foils. I appreciate the 5% discount I got from our guild building.

The two new legendary cards I got were both range units.
Halo Wisp is a four mana Life splinter card. It deals low damage at level one but it could get better as it levels up.
Nyasha Mbalika is an eight mana Fire card. She deals three range damage and is fast with four speed. She has one armor and five health on defense. She also has the Opportunity ability.
They're not the legendary cards I wanted but I guess they will have their uses in the right ruleset.

The featured battle was against a more powerful enemy. I'm proud to win against such opponents because it shows that Splinterlands is not necessarily a pay to win game. You can have powerful cards but you can still get outplayed by the right strategy.
In this battle, I had the Frontier death archon that decreases the enemy's life by one. My tank was the Ujurak Brave followed by my magic team. The ruleset included Earthquake so I had two flying units in the team. The legendary Little Sister from the Frontier and Shadowfey Shiek. Both cards are alike in stats and abilities. I also had another Frontier card, Sorrow Harvester who debuffs the enemy's health by one. All in all, I had three Frontier cards fighting against a strong team in Modern.
The enemy was led by the legendary archon Lorkus who increase the team's melee and magic damage. He also grants the Life Leech and Affliction abilities to two units. I was envious of his cards that included two black foils. He also had the legendary dragon Kaori Matsune in his team who debuffed my magic attackers. He had a healer to sustain his team and his flying unit had Taunt ability.
My tank was immediately defeated in the first round and Ulundin Overseer took the tank duties. My team took out the enemy's flying unit that had Taunt. Meanwhile, earthquake was doing big damage to the enemy who no longer has any flying units. Earthquake does two damage to non flying units so it was a big disadvantage to the enemy. This led to my team taking the victory in this battle.
