Splinterlands End of Season 94: Rank 99 in Modern League!

Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome back to my blog!

Season 94 has just wrapped up. This time, I reached the Modern Gold I League and finished at Rank 99. I also received an extra 6,250 Glints for getting a spot in the top 100 with 179 wins out of 362 battles. Over in Frontier, I managed to place in the top 32, earning additional chests and entry ticket rewards.

Legendary Reward Chests Purchase

I have over 160k glint rewards and this time, I decided to buy two legendary chests. I want to add some legendary cards to my deck and the buying legendary chests is the sure way to get them. Unfortunately, they are very expensive at 70k glints each so I can only afford two. First, I bought alchemy potions to increase my chances of getting gold foils. I appreciate the 5% discount I got from our guild building.

Afterwhich, I had the right amount of potions and bought the chests for 140k glints.

I got two new legendary cards. Although none were gold foils, I'm happy to add them to my deck. I already wrote about Sten Slatehelm in a previous post so I'm familiar with his stats and abilities. The other card I got was Chuma Marandu.

Chuma Marandu is an eight mana, dragon card. At level one, he deals four melee damage and has three speed. On defense, he has two armor and seven health. He has the Sneak ability, enabling him to harass the enemy backline. I'd want him at level two where he gains the Demoralize ability, decreasing the enemy's melee damage.

Featured Battle

The featured battle for today has the new ruleset, Junior varsity.

Battle 1 - Junior Varsity

Junior Varsity is one of the new rulesets. It's similar to Little League but under this ruleset, only units and archons with six mana and below are allowed. I didn't use my favorite Earth splinter but changed to Fire instead with the Frontier archon, Barthalamas who grants additional speed to all allied units. I used the Cavewise Wayfinder and Vicious Giraffe combo. They are very effective in low mana battles with Wayfinder's Reckless ability synergizing with Giraffe's Painforge. My next unit is a reward card, Withered Old Sage that I recently upgraded to level four. It deals three magic damage. Next is the legendary Bren Palesworn. He has dual attack of melee and range and has the Sneak ability. Next card is Portly Cannoneer. I use this card when I'm running a melee team because of his Inspire ability that buffs melee attacks. He also deals a decent two range damage. Finally I had the Kha'zi Conjurer in last position. It's only a two mana card but deals four range damage.

The enemy had higher level archon and units. He had three melee attackers and three ranged. My team attacked first because of Wayfinder's Ambush ability. Also, my team was faster because of the speed buff from the archon. The advantage in speed allowed my team to have a headstart and reduced the enemy team's health early. My team kept the lead and eventually won the battle.
