Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome to another edition of Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge! In today's post, I'll be sharing my favorite team combinations that I use in my battles. Each team member is chosen to synergize with each other making their overall power more than the sum of their individual parts.
For the Earth Splinter, I take advantage of the archon Kaylia Silverleaf's Bloodline Dominion Buff, Execute.
My strategy involves strong tanks and filling the rest of the team with as much elves as possible to have the Execute ability. In this battle, you can see how Execute gave me the win. The enemy's team is more powerful but attacking twice allowed my team to eliminate the enemy units and prevent them from doing damage.
For the Fire Splinter, I rely on the Cavewise Wayfinder and Vicious Giraffe combo. Oftentimes I would include the Portly Cannoneer to buff melee attacks but in this battle, the mana is limited so I only used the two main units. Their roles are easy to explain. The Cavewise Wayfinder is a strong offensive tank who deals three melee damage. He also has great sustainability stats with four armor and eight health. He doesn't have defensive abilities like Shield or Phase though but he makes up for it on offense. He also has the Reckless ability that I take advantage of with the Vicious Giraffe's Painforge ability. This is what makes this combo effective. The Cavewise Wayfinder damages adjacent units in this case the Giraffe who has Painforge that increases his attack power as he gets damaged.
In this ruleset, all units will get poison damage at the start of battle. I would choose units with high health and high attack damage. If I have a unit with Cleanse or Immunity I will include it in the team to counter the effects of poison. In this particular battle, I chose the Water splinter because I have a unit with Immunity, Sergeant Grauzral. My opponent chose Life where he has a unit with Cleanse, the Luceheim Demon.
I chose Warborn Chieftain over Commander Slade in this battle as a tank. This is because he has the ability to Dispel any buff the enemy has so potentially, he can counter Cleanse if the enemy has it. He also has four melee attack and six health, dealing high damage while having enough sustainability to stay in battle.
Thraghun is a great unit for second position where he attacks with melee and ranged for a total of three damage per round. He also has five health to help him survive.
The Abyssal Elemental only deals one magic damage but it's a very resilient unit perfect for the Noxious Fumes ruleset. It has five health and the Resurgence ability which allows it to resurrect once with full health. That's an overpowered ability perfect in this ruleset.
The Chaos Battlemage deals three ranged damage and has five health. I chose this unit to help whittle down the enemy's health while trying to stay longer in battle with his five health.
The Mar Toren Trader is a three mana unit that I included to fill the slot. It's a decent unit for low mana dealing two ranged damage and has four health.
My star card in this battle, Sergeant Grauzral is unaffected by Poison because of her Immunity ability. I put her in the rear to avoid attacks. With Noxious Fumes dealing damage to all units, I hope that she will survive while all enemy units suffer. In addition, Sergeant Grauzral also has the Opportunity ability which allows her to hunt down enemy units with the lowest health. This, together with Noxious Fumes will help trim down the enemy team.
The opponent's team is anchored on his high health tank with heal ability and Luceheim Demon cleansing the poison. His strategy is for his tank to guard the front line while his damage dealers do their jobs in eliminating my team. However, his backline has some low health units that will die from poison or opportunity attacks and will decrease his damage potential.
Sergeant Grauzral made the first kill, eliminating the enemy's one health Moxian Rebel out of the battle. The key now is to remove the enemy's tank who is very tough because of its twelve health and healing ability granted by the archon. The Noxious Fumes were the opponent's greatest damage dealer as he lost his low units from it. By round two, he only has two units left. The opponent's Janni Rebel tried to put up some resistance but I had too many damage dealers for it to survive. With only the Luceheim Demon left in his team, my victory was guaranteed since it cannot do damage from first position.
