Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome to another edition of Community Engagement Challenge! Today, we'll cover new Modern Mode #PowerfulCombos that I use in my battles. These are new ones that I discovered and probably by others as well. Finding these synergies is what makes Splinterlands a fun game to play.

Combo 1 - Cavewise Wayfinder, Vicious Giraffe and Portly Cannoneer

My first combo began with the Dynamic Duo of Cavewise Wayfinder and Vicious Giraffe. Then it became apparent that Portly Cannoneer is also a great addition to this combo. The synergy among the three is obvious. Cavewise Wayfinder is a good damage dealer tank at level three. He deals three melee damage and has three speed. He also has four armor and eight health. On abilities, he has Ambush and Reckless which deals damage to adjacent units. It sound bad right?

Enter Vicious Giraffe. This masochistic beast deals two melee damage and has four speed at level 3. It also has an armor and four health. It synergizes with Wayfinder's Reckless because he is perfect at position two with Reach ability and he also has Painforge. Painforge increases the Giraffe's power everytime he gets damaged by Poison, Burning or Reckless.

Adding to the Dynamic Duo's damage potential, the Portly Cannoneer has Inspire which adds one melee damage to all units. He also deals a decent ranged damage of two while providing buffs to melee units.

Combo 2 - Kaylia Silverleaf and Elves

Kaylia Silverleaf is the Earth splinter archon. Aside from decreasing the enemy magic attacks, she also grants the Execute ability to all elves. I've grown to like this ability and it proved crucial in countless battles. The Execute ability is what it says it does. It disposes of enemy units with two or less health after each successful attack. It's like giving the elves the Double Strike ability!

Whenever I use the Earth splinter, I'd have a strong tank or two then stack my backline with elves as much as possible. Aside from the Blackmoor Wildelf and Thanalorian Blade (who already has the Execute ability by herself), other elves that can be used are the Silverleaf Warlock from the Death splinter and Aranduriel from Dragon.

Combo 3 - Death Splinter

My combo for the Death splinter is anchored on three units. Thraghun is a can deal ranged and melee attacks at position two with his Reach ability. He can also do so at position one since the archon, Razi Clanktrap grants the Close Range ability to all units.

Showfey Shiek is a decent magic damage dealer and at the same time adds to his health and max health everytime he does damage because of his Life Leech ability. He can also Fly making him useful in Earthquake rulesets.

Arachne Weaver also deals two magic damage and has a great support ability in Corrupted Healing. He can heal any unit but decreases it's max health by one each time it's healed.

I try to slot in all three units and add other units as I see fit based on the allowed mana for the battle. Sometimes, Thraghun won't be in the team because he requires nine mana to put in battle. In this case, I try to put some powerful archers such as Deep Delver or Meriput Slinger in the team to take advantage of Razi's Close Range ability.

Final Thoughts

These are just some of the combos that I use and I'm striving to find new ones. The Conclave Arcana set is still new so discovering these combos is an exciting part of playing Splinterlands. These combos and synergies work at my current Silver/Gold level and may not be as effective once you get to higher Gold and Diamond where you will need legendary and higher level cards to compete effectively. Nonetheless, my search for effective teams in battles continue.
