Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome back to my blog!
If you have been playing in the Frontier then you are familiar with the best card in the set: the Mystic Scaleweaver. The card is so good that it crossed into the Modern meta. When I first played in the Frontier, the Mystic Scaleweaver card cost over a dollar which is a fair price for its stats and abilities. However, since many copies have been printed as a reward for playing in the Frontier, the cost of each card has dropped to over twenty cents. In today's post, we'll do a deep dive into this card and why it's a bargain for what it brings in battle.

The Mystic Scaleweaver is a nine mana, legendary Frontier card of the Water splinter. Since it's a Frontier card, it's max level is limited to level two. At this level it deals three magic damage, has two speed and seven health. It has the Slow ability that decreases enemy units speed by one.

Mystic Scaleweaver's main draw is its high magic damage and debuff ability. It has synergy with the Water archon in the Frontier that adds magic damage. I usually combo it with high health tanks to enable it to do damage from the rear uninterrupted by enemy attacks. Due to the strength of magic (mostly cannot be blocked or evaded), even the Water archon found a place in the Modern meta.

If I would compare it with other cards then the closest will be a level one Zarin the Scorch. It also deals three magic damage and has the Slow ability. On the other hand, it doesn't have synergy Dragon archons. It also cost $1.70 against a level two Mystic Scaleweaver that costs less than $1.

The battle had the Thick Skinned ruleset which encouraged the use of magic units. It also had Explosive Weaponry so units to counter Blast will be key. I had the Water magic team led by Marlai Singariel who buffs the team's magic attack. In first position I had the Escalation tank Doomshield Warden. He has an ability that grants Reach to the second position unit. So in second position, I had Commander Slade. He is a strong tank with Deflect ability thus Blast has no effect on him. The following units were all magic attackers including Mystic Scaleweaver.
The enemy had the same two tank combo frontline but had different cards and archon. Perhaps my greatest advantage was using the Frontier archon that buffed magic attacks against the enemy's Rebellion archon. Thus my units had the higher damage output and was faster in disposing of the enemy.
If you are not playing in the Frontier and haven't earned a Mystic Scaleweaver yet, you can buy copies from the market at low cost. It's an essential card especially if you're running a magic team.
