My Junior Varsity Earth Team

Hello Splinterlands warriors and welcome back to my blog!

The Junior Varsity modifier is new in Splinterlands. It's a mana restriction ruleset that limits both units and archons to cards that cost six mana or less. Any card with a mana cost of 7 or higher cannot be used in the battle. It's similar to the Little League ruleset that limits cards to four mana or less. In the current Modern league meta, Earth is my best team in Junior Varsity. It has a lot of good low mana units. In today's post, we'll go through the cards that I frequently use.

Thanalorian Blade

Thanalorian Blade is a damage dealer card. She has decent attack of two melee and three speed. She combines it with her Opportunity ability to hunt the enemy's low health units. Together with her Execute ability, she does a great job in assassinating enemy units that are hiding in the rear position.

Bren Palesworn

Bren Palesworn is a neutral unit that I can use with Earth. He has the Shapeshift ability that means he can benefit from the archons Bloodline Dominion buff, Execute. Combined with his dual attack and Sneak ability, he wrecks the enemy's back line units with efficiency.

Aranduriel

Aranduriel is a Dragon splinter unit that can be used in Earth because she is an elf. I usually pair her with Bren Palesworn because she also has the Sneak ability that combines well with her three range attack. Together with Bren, they decimate the enemy's rear units.

Silverleaf Warlock

Silverleaf Warlock is a Death splinter card that can be used with Earth because of his elven bloodline. He deals two magic damage and has the Swiftness ability to buff the team's speed by one. This is an under rated ability that enables the team to attack first and increase their chances to evade attacks.

Blackmoor Wild Elf

Blackmoor Wild Elf is a five mana card. She deals two magic damage and has the Camouflage ability, making her invisible to the enemy unless she takes the first position. She is an efficient damage dealer combined with the Execute ability she gets from the archon.

These are most of the units I use. They are all elves or take on the shape of elves to benefit from the Earth archon's Bloodline Dominion ability, Execute.

Featured Battle

In this battle, I used the units I mentioned above except for the tank. The ruleset included the Outsider ability, allowing me to use the Terraceous Grunt, a tank from the Chaos Legion set that has eleven health and has the Dodge ability.

The enemy's team was also strong, having the legendary Baakjira in his team. It's powered by a unit with Weapons Training thus it gained a magic attack. The enemy's frontline is somewhat strong so it was fortunate that my damage dealers target the backline. My tank was defeated but my backline worked on decimating the enemy's backline unit. Soon he was left with only Baakjira against four of my units. Inspite of its thick skin, Baakjira was no match against four units.

Final Thoughts

The Ujurak Brave is a specialized but highly effective tank. It may not have a high attack or possess many abilities, but he has sufficient defense and magic debuffs. Further, he shines in poison battles. He is an underrated but reliable card.

That execute can really wreak havoc on a backline, well done. That a great junior varsity line up, especially when combined with our archon. She's one of my favorites too!
