Modern Gold I League Unlocked!

Hello Splinterlands warriors and welcome back to my blog!

Less than a week before the season ends, I just unlocked Gold I League in Modern. Again, I expect my SPS rewards earned per win to increase given the higher league. I was also rewarded with advancement chests that contained cards, among others. Advancing in leagues as you win more battles is part of the fun I find in playing Splinterlands.

Advancement Reward Chests

Whoa! I got lucky this time. Sure, no epic or legendary cards but I got an extra card, Shadowcomb Duskrose. These cards can only be obtained from jackpot chests. In addition, I like her best among the jackpot cards because she's an elf. This means I'll have more choices whenever I play my favorite splinter and bloodline. I also got some common and rare cards so I'm extremely happy with these rewards.

Featured Battle

For the featured battle, this is the one that advanced me to Gold I League.

The ruleset was included Might Makes Right, only units with three attach or more can be summoned and Born Again, all units have the Rebirth ability. I chose the Earth splinter led by the archon Kaylia Silverleaf. She debuffs enemy magic and grants the Execute ability to elves. The rest of my team were as follows.

Doomshield Warden

Doomshield Warden is a regular tank in my battles. His stats are good for a tank combining offense and defense. His Flank ability allows me to put another melee unit in second position where it gains the Reach ability.

Halfling Refugee

Halfing Refugee is a one mana card with three melee attack. Inspite of the high mana cap, I was forced to use a one mana card because my other units have high mana, especially Forlorn Geomant.

Grove Doomblade

Grove Doomblade is a great damage dealer with five melee attack. She demolishes the enemy backline with her Sneak ability. She also has Stun that can cause her target to lose a turn.

Forlorn Geomant

Forlorn Geomant requires a huge thirteen mana but he's worth it. He deals five magic damage that can destroy enemies in one hit.

Wilhemdale Deputy

A card from the Frontier that I use in Modern mode from time to time. She deals a decent three range damage.

Silverleaf Mage

A regular in my line up is a Taunt unit. In this case, the Silverleaf Mage fulfills this role. She also deals three range damage and has enough defense to absorb damage.

The enemy had a higher level archon and units. He had a double tank combo including the powerful Commander Slade. On the other hand, he had one unit that does not attack, the Giant Alpine Skink in third position. It can only attack once it takes the first position. His team was completed by three decent damage dealers.

My strategy to divide the enemy's attack worked well in my favor. My tanks had to fight against the powerful double tank combo of the enemy and it helped that other units were not attacking them. Meanwhile, Grove Doomblade was doing great against the enemy backline with her high attacks and Stun ability. Once the enemy's tanks were defeated, the battle went easier and my team won the battle.
