Chuma Marandu: Legendary Melee Dragon Card!

Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome back to my blog!

I recently got the legendary card Chuma Marandu from reward chests after end of season. He's a nice addition to my deck giving me another back line damage dealer. In today's post, I'll go over his lore and his stats & abilities. I'll also share a recent battle where he takes a spot in my team and took his role as one of the damage dealers.

Lore

Chuma started as a dock worker in Ulundin, carrying massive grain sacks until he became extraordinarily strong. He later discovered a dead blue dragon hatchling from a traveling merchant, along with a special war paint recipe made from dragon scales that awakened draconic power within him.

Stats and Abilities

Chuma Marandu is an eight mana, Dragon splinter melee unit. He starts as a reliable damage dealer at level one. He deals four melee damage, has three speed, two armor and seven health. He also has the Sneak ability to harass the enemy back line. At higher levels he gains debuff abilities like Demoralize to decrease the enemy's melee attack. He also gains Expose, to remove the enemy's defensive and immunity abilities. He has Retaliate ability that allows him to counterattack physical attackers.

My Chuma Marandu is at level one and he is one already one of my back line damage dealers when I use the Dragon splinter.

Featured Battle

I had the dragon archon Kavor Skarn in this battle. As usual when I have a dragon archon, I pair it with Fire. The Drybone Megalodon was a tank position. He's more of an offensive tank with high damage and decent defense. He's got two abilities in his arsenal. Flank enables adjacent melee unit to gain the Reach ability enabling it to hit with melee from second position. His other ability is Retaliate, giving him a chance to counterattack against physical attacks. I had the Molten Elemental in second position. It has a dual attack of melee and range that it can use from there. It has decent attack and defense while having excellent speed that complements its flying ability. This combination of ability and speed gives it higher chances to evade physical attacks. In third position is the versatile unit, Night Reaper. It's a flying magic unit that can also take the role of a tank because of its high health pool. In fourth is the giant Ballista Deadshot who deals five magic damage. In fifth is Chuma Marandu who joins the team's
damage dealers with his four melee attack. Lastly I had Syrenth who has the Taunt ability aside from her four range damage.

The enemy had a legendary dragon archon Sheng Xiao. He's got similar dual tank combo in front followed by mostly magic damage dealers. My units had the advantage in speed and attacked first. My team made the first kill and defeated the enemy's tank while Chuma Marandu was attacking the rear unit which has a high defense and health stats. Eventually, my team was able to decimate the enemy and won the battle.
