Baakjira: Water Splinter's Ultimate Support Tank

Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome back to my blog!

The legendary Baakjira is Water splinter's ultimate support tank. It doesn't deal damage but it's packed with support and debuff abilities that will greatly help the team. Pair it with a unit with Weapons Training and it will add attack to its arsenal. In today's post, well go through its lore, stats & abilities and show a battle where it's used effectively.

Lore

Baakjira is a legendary Baleenvast from the depths of the Delortane Trench. It's a huge whale like creature so big that even dragons appear small beside it. Before the Chaos Legion invasion, very few had ever witnessed the beast and many believed its appearance was tied to the void gates. When Baakjira surfaced during the war, its size and power stunned everyone on the battlefield. Despite their terrifying scale, Baleenvasts are revered in ancient maritime folklore as symbols of protection and good fortune for those fortunate enough to witness them.

Stats and Abilities

Baakjira is six mana, legendary Water card. It has no attack but is a very beefy tank. At maxed levels it has a health of sixteen but rather slow with only a speed of two. It's a great tank against magic attackers because of its Void ability. It can also heal itself adding to its sustainability. It supports the whole team by adding to their health with its Strengthen ability. Further, it slows down the enemy team by decreasing their speed by one. There are a lot of units with Weapons Training now that can be paired with Baakjira to give it an attack. Most recently, I've been using Shiraza.

Featured Battle

The featured battle had the Outsider and Junior Varsity rulesets. It's a perfect ruleset for the six mana Baakjira. Player Minikiwi9 had Baakjira in the tank position. It was followed by Moxian Rebel who had the Weapons Training ability. Next is another no attack card Yaba's Pickle. In fourth position is another unit with Weapons Training, Bren Palesworn. This gives Yaba's Pickle three attacks similar to Gramel the Hunger. This shows how strong Weapons Training ability can be. It transformed a no attack unit to one with triple attack in its arsenal. In fifth is a unit with Tank Heal ability, Anath Soothsayer, further reinforcing Baakjira. Lastly, he had the Abyssal Elemental who has the Resurgence ability.

His enemy was unfortunately...me! I used a magic team led by the Frontier archon that adds attack to all magic units. I used an all magic team and had the Abyssal Elemental in the tank position. I chose the Riverboat Captain as my Outsider card. I like this card for its Blast ability. However, my team was soundly repelled by Baakjira with its Void ability. Coupled with it's inherent beefiness and the attack granted by Moxian Rebel, my team didn't stand a chance and I lost this battle.
