Hello Splinterlandians! Frontier mode, in which only the new Foundation cards can be played, was introduced a few days ago and has been very well received by players so far. Both by long-time players and newcomers. Now Phase 2 has begun, in which rare Black Foil and Arcane Foil cards are being raffled off. This has led to even more battles being played in Frontier mode than before.

Of course, it's important to find the right strategies with the Foundation cards in order to win as many battles as possible. As part of this week's Splinterlands Social Media Challenge, I would like to introduce you to one of my absolute favorite strategies in Frontier mode and show you a battle using this strategy. Rulesets, Manacap and Splinters:

There were two rulesets active in my battle. The first is Ferocity, which doesn't necessarily affect my strategy. The only card with the Taunt ability is New Beluroc Aegis, and I don't necessarily have to play it. The second ruleset is Fire & Regret, and here things look a little different, as I want to play a ranged attacker. However, as you will see in a moment, I accept this and play the ranged attacker anyway.

I have 48 mana available for my battle, which is quite a lot, especially considering that there aren't many expensive Foundation cards. So you can really go wild. There are numerous variations on my strategy, which means that the mana cap is not particularly relevant for me.

All splinters are available except for the Water Splinter. In my strategy, I will play the Death Splinter, which is very strong in this mode and is played frequently.

Lineup and Strategy:

Position	Card	Explanation
Archon		Since I wanted to play Death Splinter, I chose Thalgrimore as Archon. The one health point debuff isn't bad, but it's not particularly good either. Nevertheless, it helps my strategy, as you'll see in a moment.
#1		In the first position, I have placed Nim Guard Captain, probably the best tank from the Foundation set. This is due to the Void ability and the good armor stat.
#2		Right behind it comes Spellmonger, whose sole task is to counter enemy melee attackers due to its low life points and Thorns ability. Especially those with the Opportunity ability.
#3		In the third position, I play Little Sister. The card is fundamentally strong due to its Life Leech ability, but it is rather useless in the current meta, as Nim Guard Captain is almost always played.
#4		The first key card for this strategy is Vengeful Monk. Its task is to eliminate the monsters in the rear positions with the help of the Opportunity ability, as these are very vulnerable in the Frontier meta.
#5		Sorrow Harvester is also important. On the one hand, the two magic attack are very strong, and on the other hand, the Weaken ability further reduces the opponent's life points.
#6		The last position is another key card, Lenore Nevermore. He is also supposed to eliminate the monsters in the rear positions, which is very possible with the help of the Snipe ability.

The strategy may already have become apparent to some of you. My front cards, Nim Guard Captain and Spellmonger, are designed to give my opponent a hard time. Meanwhile, Vengeful Monk and Lenore Nevermore are supposed to eliminate the opponent's monsters in the rear positions, which are often the opponent's attackers. The whole process is accelerated by the fact that the opponent's monsters lose a total of two life points, which is made possible by Thalgrimore on the one hand and Sorrow Harvester on the other.

Battle:

This is what my lineup ultimately looks like in the battle.

My opponent has chosen Life Splinter, which is very strong against physical attackers in Frontier mode and also prioritizes attacking monsters in the rear positions. By playing New Beluroc Aegis, my opponent protects his other monsters at the beginning, but it's important to remember that the Ferocity ruleset is active.

After the first round, as I had expected, the opposing New Beluroc Aegis was eliminated. It is also clear that the opposing Spellmonger and mine will probably be eliminated soon. However, the opponent's Vengeful Monk will probably die, but mine won't, as it still has enough life points. So that's a clear advantage for me. You can also see that my Lenore Nevermore has already taken a little damage and may not survive the battle.

After round 2, both Spellmongers were indeed eliminated. But the opposing Vengeful Monk is also gone. So that has already happened as I predicted. My monsters have a clear advantage at this point, as they outnumber the opponent and have more life points.

As you can see, the battle is practically decided in my favor after the third round. Even though I lost my Lenore Nevermore, the situation looks very good for me.

And in the end, after just a few moves, I was able to win the battle relatively easily.

I think the battle showed how powerful Death Splinter is with this strategy in Frontier mode. Although my opponent also had a relatively good strategy, I had relatively few problems and some of my monsters even survived.

Last Words:

When Death Splinter is available, I play this strategy or a variation of it very often, and my opponents also often play Death Splinter. That's a bit of a shame, as it can quickly make battles in Frontier mode monotonous. But let's see, maybe something will change in the future. For now, I'm focusing on getting as many entries as possible for the weekly lottery.

Hallo Splinterlandians! Der Frontier Modus, in welchem nur die neuen Foundation Karten spielbar sind, wurde vor wenigen Tagen eingeführt und er wird bisher sehr gut von den Spielern angenommen. Sowohl von alt eingesessenen Spielern, als auch von neuen. Jetzt hat auch noch die Phase 2, in der seltene Black Foil und Arcane Foil Karten verlost werden, begonnen. Das hat dazu geführt, dass noch mehr Battles im Frontier Modus gespielt werden als sowieso schon.

Da ist es natürlich nicht unwichtig die richtigen Strategien mit den Foundation Karten zu finden, um möglichst viele seiner Battles zu gewinnen. Im Rahmen der dieswöchigen Splinterlands Social Media Challenge möchte ich euch heute deswegen eine meiner absoluten Lieblingsstrategien im Frontier Modus vorstellen und euch ein entsprechendes Battle mit dieser Strategie zeigen. Rulesets, Manacap und Splinters:

In meinem Battle waren zwei Rulesets aktiv. Das erste ist Ferocity, was meine Strategie nicht unbedingt beeinträchtigt. Die einzige Karte mit der Ability Taunt ist New Beluroc Aegis und den muss ich nicht zwingendermaßen spielen. Das zweite Ruleset ist Fire & Regret und hier sieht es etwas anders aus, da ich einen Ranged Attacker spielen möchte. Wie ihr jedoch gleich sehen werdet nehme ich das in Kauf und spiele trotzdem den Ranged Attacker.

Es ist 48 Mana für mein Battle verfügbar, was relativ viel ist. Vor allem in Anbetracht, dass es nicht sehr viele teure Foundation Karten gibt. Man kann sich also austoben. Für meine Strategie gibt es zahlreiche Varianten, das heißt das Manacap ist für mich nicht besonders relevant.

Es sind alle Splinter verfügbar, bis auf das Water Splinter. In meiner Strategie werde ich das Death Splinter spielen, was in diesem Modus sehr stark ist und häufig gespielt wird.

Lineup und Strategie:

Archon		Da ich das Death Splinter spielen wollte, habe ich Thalgrimore als Archon gewählt. Der Debuff von einem Lebenspunkt ist nicht schlecht, aber auch nicht besonders gut. Trotzdem hilft das meiner Strategie, wie ihr gleich sehen werdet.
#1		Auf der ersten Position habe ich Nim Guard Captain platziert, den vermutlich besten Tank aus dem Foundation Set. Das liegt an der Ability Void und dem guten Rüstungswert.
#2		Direkt dahinter kommt Spellmonger und dessen einzige Aufgabe ist es aufgrund der niedrigen Lifepoints und der Ability Thorns gegnerische Melee Attacker zu kontern. Vor allem die mit der Ability Opportunity.
#3		Auf der dritten Position spiele ich Little Sister. Die Karte ist aufgrund der Ability Life Leech grundsätzlich stark, in der aktuellen Meta aber eher unbrauchbar, da fast immer Nim Guard Captain gespielt wird.
#4		Die erste Schlüsselkarte für diese Strategie ist Vengeful Monk. Seine Aufgabe ist es mit Hilfe der Ability Opportunity die Monster in den hinteren Positionen zu eliminieren, da diese in der Frontier Meta sehr verwundbar sind.
#5		Auch nicht unwichtig ist Sorrow Harvester. Zum einen sind die zwei Magic Attack sehr stark und die Ability Weaken schwächt die gegnerischen Lifepoints nochmal.
#6		Auf der letzten Position kommt mit Lenore Nevermore nochmal eine Schlüsselkarte. Auch er soll die Monster in den hinteren Positionen eliminieren, was mit Hilfe der Ability Snipe sehr gut möglich ist.

Die Strategie hat sich dem ein oder anderen vielleicht schon offenbart. An meinen vorderen Karten, also Nim Guard Captain und Spellmonger, soll sich der Gegner die Zähne ausbeisen. Währenddessen sollen Vengeful Monk und Lenore Nevermore die gegnerischen Monster in den hinteren Positionen eliminieren, bei welchen es sich häufig um die gegnerischen Angreifer handelt. Das ganze beschleunigen soll, dass den gegnerischen Monstern insgesamt zwei Lebenspunkte abgezogen werden, was zum einen Thalgrimore und zum anderen durch Sorrow Harvester ermöglicht wird.

Battle:

So sieht dann meine Aufstellung letztendlich im Battle aus.

Mein Gegner hat das Life Splinter gewählt, welches im Frontier Modus sehr stark gegen physische Angreifer ist und ebenfalls die Monster in den hinteren Positionen priorisiert angreift. Dadurch dass mein Gegner New Beluroc Aegis spielt, schützt er zu Beginn seine anderen Monster, allerdings sollte man bedenken, dass das Ruleset Ferocity aktiv ist.

Nach der ersten Runde wurde, wie ich es mir schon gedacht habe, der gegnerische New Beluroc Aegis eliminiert. Was man auch erkennen kann ist, dass der gegnerische Spellmonger und auch meiner vermutlich gleich eliminiert wird. Allerdings wird dabei der gegnerische Vengeful Monk vermutlich sterben, aber meiner nicht, da er noch genügend Lebenspunkte hat. Das ist also ein klarer Vorteil für mich. Außerdem sieht man, dass mein Lenore Nevermore bereits ein wenig Schaden bekommen hat und das Battle eventuell nicht überleben wird.

Nach Runde 2 waren dann tatsächlich beide Spellmonger eliminiert. Aber auch der gegnerische Vengeful Monk ist von uns gegangen. Das ist also schon mal so eingetreten, wie ich es vorausgesagt habe. Meine Monster sind zu diesem Zeitpunkt deutlich im Vorteil, da sie in der Überzahl sind und noch mehr Lebenspunkte haben.

Wie ihr sehen könnt, ist das Battle nach der dritten Runde schon quasi für mich entschieden. Auch wenn ich meinen Lenore Nevermore verloren habe, sieht die Situation sehr gut aus für mich.

Und letztendlich konnte ich das Battle dann nach wenigen Aktionen doch relativ klar gewinnen.

Ich denke das Battle hat gezeigt, wie stark das Death Splinter mit dieser Strategie im Frontier Modus ist. Obwohl mein Gegner ebenfalls eine relativ gute Strategie hatte, hatte ich relativ wenig Probleme und einiger meiner Monster konnten sogar überleben.

Letzte Worte:

Wenn das Death Splinter verfügbar ist, spiele ich diese Strategie bzw. eine Abwandlung davon sehr häufig und auch meine Gegner spielen oft das Death Splinter. Das ist etwas schade, da die Battles im Frontier Modus dadurch schnell eintönig werden können. Aber mal sehen, vielleicht ändert sich in der Zukunft ja noch etwas daran. Jetzt fokussiere ich mich erstmal darauf möglichst viele Entries für die wöchentliche Losung zu erhalten.
