Greetings everyone and welcome to another #Splinterlands post, today we are going to be taking in the awe that is Gladius pack opening. The new animations and eyecandy definitely make the experience smooth, and like all card game pack openings they definitely hit the endorphin receptors in the brain. And for some a "gacha endorphin response", but I digress. This week we opened 10 packs, increased our collection power, and acquired a bunch of valuable cards (strategically). It honestly was a good haul, but I'm particularly excited about the NEW card added to my collection: Fina Voxom.
This new legendary has pretty crazy stats for a creature with opportunity. Insane stats to be frank. I see this getting crammed in every red brawl lineup I throw out there, regardless of commander. This card is REALLY strong for any red lineup and I see myself playing it everywhere. Very exciting pull, I'm happy to add her to my collection. She was the only new card I actually acquired in these packs, so it was nice to get something that will actually change my Splinterlands gameplay.
Overall I acquired a massive plethora of gladiators, which if I didn't already have them would be quite a big deal strategically. It's not like any of these cards aren't good or worth their own analysis and reaction, I just have them already. In some cases I already have dozens of copies, so a few extra to the pile doesn't really warrant a reaction from me. However, if I was a NEW player 10 Gladius packs would be pretty game changing. There are a lot of strong gladiators for every splinter and they change the way brawling works. There are a few creatures with bloodlust that aren't gladiators but it is a universally present gladiator ability that amps up various lineups, gladius packs are an easy way to acquire these cards.
I know collection power used to determine the league you could play up into (many moons ago), but these days I don't know if it has any serious in game value. It gets you a peakD badge so I might as well push for it but as it stands gladius cards mostly effect Brawls, but can also effect ranked play with some of the newer soulbound summoners (that allow 1 extra gladiator unit into play). All of those summoners aren't reaching their full potential without gladiator cards, so I imagine anyone who happened to pick up a few of those summoners (even at lvl 1) are somewhat committed to actually acquiring their own stable of gladiators to use in RANKED. I have no idea what CP does, despite gladiators being worth the effort of acquiring beyond that.
It had been quite a long time since I had done some pack ripping in Splinterlands, I hadn't really busted a plethora of packs since the #play2earn glorydays of yesteryear. Now SPS is worth less than a penny, how times change. I honestly still like busting packs in this game, and gladius packs have helped in letting me scratch my itch. I even still have cards to collect to complete a gladius playset, and then after that I can always decide to "max them out". I definitely don't want to get burned on packs again just for "the collectionist in me", I already forked over enough for that. These days I do mostly secondary market deals, if any. Survival has been a lot of fun to play amd I actually break out Splinterlands on mobile (which I haven't done in potentially over a year). The game is fun, I'm just not in a position to spend more on it other than what I get from playing it.
You all rock! Thanks for taking the time to interact with this post. You folks are the reason HIVE is a wonderful place to post. Stay safe out there battlemages!
