Splinterlands community engagement challenge: Maximizing the power of weapon training in low mana cap battles

(edited)

Hello Splinter nerds

There are a lot of tactics and strategies that players find interesting to use during battle; the ruleset and mana cap are what determine the tactics and strategies in most battles.

One of my winning strategies that I would like to share today is maximizing the weapon training ability in low manacap battles.

Weapon Training is an ability that gives non-attack monsters adjacent to the monster that possesses the ability the same power. When a monster has the weapon training ability, the other non-attack monsters adjacent to it will also have its attack mode, but they can only gain 3 maximum power out of its power, regardless of how much more power it has.

The importance of weapon training in low mana cap battles

We have many non attack monsters whose mana are less than 4, weapon training monster is the only way to give them power and make them more useful apart from the other protective abilities they possess because on splinterlands no monster is useless, they do not have attack power does not mean they don't have other skills that makes them special, it could be magic reflect, thorn or other amazing abilities.

The battle below illustrates how weapon training monster and non-attack monsters' synergy is perfect in low mana cap battles.

It was a 12 mana cap battle, which is the lowest mana battle that can be found on Splinterlands. And only one rule was given[Are you not entertained], which indicates that 1 gladiator can be used in the battle.

The opponent and I used the Life Splinter but different summoners to summon our monsters. My summoner is a dual splinter[ water & life].

The first thing that is obvious in the battle above is the number of monsters in my team, which is more than the opponent team. I summoned 5 monsters while the opponent summoned 4; this is only possible because of the weapon training tactic that I used.

The halfling refugee was my tank. It is a 1 mana card, so it doesn't consume mana, but has a lot to offer because it has 8 health! It will take a while before the opponent can eliminate him.

The 2 non-attack monsters I used were Helmet Kharafax, a 2 mana gladius monster, and Daigendark Surveyor. These 2 have powerful abilities but can't attack unless they are weaponized, and this is where Moxian rebel has a role to play.

Moxian is the monster with the weapon training ability that gives Helmet and Daigen her magic power and turns them into a fighting monster, which makes winning possible for me.

My last monster was Bravefoot; it cost no mana but was very useful in battle before the weary ability got a hold of her.

The battle was close to being a flawless victory for me, but I lost my Halfling Refugee. Still, it was a good win for me because the opponent only killed one of my monsters before I took down his whole team.

The Helmet Kharafox was able to withstand the other hit from the opponent, and it is well loaded with nice abilities like fire return and void, so it was the full stop for the opponent; it can't be taken down with such a weak lineup.
