Hello Splinter nerds
One of the rules that gives me a hard time on Splinterlands is the Noxious fume rule.
It is a rule that all the monsters start the battle poisoned, except those with the immunity ability.
Even though the poison can be cleansed but the number of monsters that have the cleansing ability is few. The conclave arcana set makes things easier by giving some monsters the cleanse rearguard and echo
ability. The cleanse rearguard removes poison from the rear monsters[ monsters at the back] while the echo ability allows monsters that possess it to be able to use their ability twice in a round, which means double rear cleanse, but sometimes those monsters are not made available in battle...
It becomes more difficult when this rule is accompanied by two other rules. I was given this rule along with two other in a battle with Horsebox
Stampede: This is the first rule; trample ability can trigger multiple times as long as the monster eliminates the target. The second rule is Noxious fume, which has been explained at the beginning of this post.
Are you not Entertained: This was the third and last rule, and it indicates that one additional gladiator can be used in the battle.
This three-rule combo needs a strategic lineup. Aside from all the monsters being poisoned, I still have to defend against the opponent's trample, and lastly, I can't be vulnerable and give his gladiator a chance to trigger the blood lust in case he comes up with one.
Only the fire, earth, and dragon splinter were available. I use the Dragon Summoner to summon fire monsters, while the opponent uses the Fire Splinter.
Whenever I get the Noxious Fume rule, I always try to make sure I use either a monster with immunity or a monster with the cleanse or cleanse rearguard or a monster with both, like the battle above.
Grimbardun Smith was my tank, and I used it because of its immunity; if all my other monsters are affected by the ruleset, it is safe! The second monster in my team was Rage, which has the life leech
ability, so likely to survive until my monster with the cleansing ability got to its position, and it worked exactly the way I predicted.
Fizbo the Fabulous is the heal tank I placed in the third position, which supplies Smith with health and makes it hard for the opponent to eliminate it. Venka the vile was the fourth monster, but I was surprised to see the opponent using Heloise the Hollow in such a rule. Venka didn't survive because of her.
Kelan Gaines was the fifth monster, and I used it for its double strike ability. Unfortunately, it was the first to die in my team, and lastly is Sanctus Vicar, the monster with both cleanse and rear cleanseguard, he made winning possible with those two special abilities.
So, to any player trying to master the ruleset, always make sure to use a monster with immunity or the cleansing ability because without those two, victory may be difficult.
It was a close call battle, but I still feel it was wrong to have used Heloise the Hollow in such a rule because Heloise is known to siphon health from her team and also make them weary; those two negatives, plus the poison from the ruleset, make the team more vulnerable, which was exactly what happened in the end of the battle.
