Hello Splinter nerds.
Can we all agree that the frontier format gameplay is a success!
This format tackles a lot of problems that other formats are facing. I won't say it is problem-free free cos we never know, but for now, I do not see any problem in this format.
The first problem that this format solves is the issue of onboarding and retaining players... It is a free-to-play format, which enables everyone interested in the game to play without investment; all it requires and asks for is time. What makes it super great is that even though it requires no investment, you can benefit from playing it.
Players are given reward cards for completing quests, and these cards are tradable! So it is not just play for fun, you can play to earn!
The cards are also selling. Players who are so eager to level up their cards or those who can't wait to receive some cards as a reward, are buying!
I had two of these cards and placed one in the market for sale at 6 dollars, and it got picked!
I got 6700 Dec for it. Henceforth, I will combine the cards to level them up so I would be able to compete at higher leagues, and no doubt that this format is addictive.
This format does not have a pairing issue like the modern format; within 15 seconds, you are already paired with an opponent. The reason is known to everyone... It is free to play, and many people have the time, and the fact that it is rewarding motivates players to complete their daily quests.
These are my foundation cards collection above, all are still in level 1, but it keeps adding up daily with the reward chest, and I know within a short time, I will have all the cards, and the next mission will be to level them up.
The early bird catches the worm, so this is the right time to join Splinterlands if you have not, and start playing the frontier format with zero investment. If you need help understanding Splinterlands, my Discord ID is on my footer. Feel free to message me and start your journey on Splinterlands.
My favorite splinter on frontier format is the water splinter. I love it because the summoner gives +1 magic, and the water splinter also has magic monsters that will benefit from the stat of the summoner, so it is my go-to splinter when I need to finish my quest on time, but after I realize that the players were coming with formation to counter my magic attack, I switched to the earth splinter and now I am often using the water, earth and fire splinter in battle.
Here is an interesting battle where I used the earth splinter to claim victory.
We were given two rules, the first indicates that all melee monsters can attack from any position, while the second rule is Noxious fume, which indicates all monsters are poisoned.
The Earth is my go-to splinter whenever I see noxious fume rules because the splinter has a monster that can self-heal, the name of the monster is Dread Tafarian, and it is an advantage in such a ruleset knowing it can replenish its own health.
Time Bandit was my second monster, and it has a cleanse
ability which helps to remove the poison from my tank [ Dread Tafarian].. The self-heal and Cleans complement each other, as that is the only way to completely get rid of the threat from the noxious fume rule set which the opposite didn't use cos he used the water splinter.
Kicking Doc was my third and last monster. I used it for his huge range power [+3]... It was the first to die in my team as the opponent monster targeted it, but that was good for me because it delayed the attack on my two main monsters that I rely on to win.
This is the time to start your journey on Splinterlands...
