Yabaris Prospero Mattonius, Father of Dragons & Reluctant Hero | Splinterlands TPG Challenge

This week's #TPGChallenge by @thepeoplesguild is a doozy, with the guys at The People's Guild asking us to dream up what a @yabapmatt card could be. To participate, follow this link and get those creative juices flowing.

For my creation, I give you Yabaris Prospero Mattonius. I wanted to use his full true name - the one his wizard mother called him at birth, but only whispered once for fear of unleashing too much power, too soon... Except for that one other time when she was really mad at him for breaking that magical vase, but we don't talk about that time. It's the name his dragon childlings call him, laboriously screeching out each syllable unintelligibly to others, but like a sweet song to Yaba's ears. It's what you hear in the deep trenches of the Rebellion, when desperate warriors seek solace in their darkest hour.

Yabaris was born with dark energy oozing through his blood. He's said to bleed purple, but it's never been confirmed, as he's never bled. He's a powerful sorcerer known for his relentlessness and determination. He's a reluctant leader of men, women, and creatures alike.

YABARIS PROSPERO MATTONIUS

Yabaris is a 9-mana neutral summoner. As the "Father of Dragons", Yabaris enables you to play Dragon cards alongside any chosen Splinter, assuming that the Dragon Splinter is available for play.

His global stats give your team additional health and armor, a testament to his unyielding resilience.

His tactics, meanwhile, bring in a whole new dimension of play, no matter which side you choose.

LEFT SIDE TACTICS

Father of Dragons gives Yabaris Mattonius the ability to infuse dragonly powers onto 2 cards, which gives their attack Blast AND a 50% chance to apply the Burn debilitation to each unit hit (regardless of Reflection Shield!).

In addition, the two selected units get Last Stand, so that, were they to be the last to remain in battle, they would be zealously imbued with strength for one final march against the enemy.

RIGHT SIDE TACTICS

On the right side we have the second new ability, Reluctant Hero, which gives two selected units the ability to absorb enemy attacks. When a unit with Reluctant Hero is hit, they receive +1 health and +1 armor (these increase the unit's maximum health and armor, and cannot be dispelled). Furthermore, Yaba's thick skin and vast experience receiving blows from his enemies imbues two units with Reflection Shield, perfect to combat today's meta.
