As I am playing more and more Splinterlands and as land is being developed with buildings taking shape - a release featuring them might happen this year - I am more inclined to think that the endgame might be Resource Management. Until now the NFT cards are dominating the space, while SPS and DEC are supporting the economy from the sidelines. But what will transform the game and what will push it to the next level is the land. While it was slow cooked for a while, we might see some true test cases that will brink new tokenomics into the game. Too little said game as Splinterlands has become a true crypto gaming ecosystem. It could well be an entire blockchain of its own if you were to ask me.

During the initial Land presale I've bought 10 plots, out of which one is a Keep. This was pure luck, but what an amazing one. My current management of the plots is quite poor as I haven't read the land use cases, neither have I thought strategically about it. But lately I've started to pay real attention to it. And one thing that I was doing badly is that In this phase of land I was putting high production cards on the keep. But the keep only collects taxes from the tract at this point, thus I realized it doesn't make sense what I did. In the next phase of the land that will change, but for now that's just a misuse of strong cards from my part. What I will do next is to put some weaker cards on the Keep and the current high productivity cards to move them on a plot I wasn't using.
Another thing is that my plots in the Tundra's only produce wood. That's not good. Because of this I went to the market and bought the cheapest piece of land that produces a different resource: stones. I chose one in the Desert as on that one I can get a boost from my high productivity cards of Fire and Dragon types. And I am preparing to put them at work, although I might need to stake a little bit more DEC in order to ensure 100% productivity levels. But with this one I will have new resource types coming my way which I will be stacking for the next phase of the land where buildings will require them.
I am still lacking plots that are producing other types of resources like Grain or Iron. What I am doing for now us to trade the other resources for the. This is good enough but I can do better. My next move will be to buy plots that produce also these resources. I will start with grain as that's needed by the workers to function. Iron probably is the rarest resource so it will be the last one on which I will look for a plot. Luckily enough for now the plots are quite cheap and the one that I last bought (producing Stone) cost me only $8.25.

Land is taking shape in the Splinterlands even if in a slow rhythm. But when the new phase will kick in, I believe that all the players will realize that they will need it for what's coming. Here are so e of the initial use cases: Land → Workers → Raw resources → Buildings → Refining → Magical resources → Ancient ruins → Gems/Essences → Crafting → Items & Spells → More competitive battle. So we are still quite at the beginning of it. Probably I should have put more effort into harvesting land resources, but I guess it us also good later than never. So let's see how much I can accumulate until next phase if land in Splinterlands will kick in. For now, back to work! 😉
