We have a lot of second layer tokens on the Hive blockchain, some of them which might not even seen the day of light beside being created, but just few of them are supporting the entire economy of this layer. Do you know about which I am talking about? I think you already figured out and that's Inleo and Splinterlands? But why do I say that? Well, simply because the tokens built around these two projects have the biggest daily volume traded on the Hive-Engine market. Maybe that's not enough to reflect most powerful tokens out there, but that's an indicator which at least shows the vitality and health of it. Right now, InLeo and Splinterlands are carrying a huge share of the weight. InLeo, with its emphasis on content - short and long form, curation, premium perks and also the extension into the LeoDex, has become the place for creators, investors, and curators who want exposure to crypto discussions and financial topics. Splinterlands, on the other hand, drives a completely different audience, mixing blockchain utility with gaming, NFTs and play-to-earn mechanics. These two don’t just coexist, they come each other in sustaining liquidity and engagement from different perspectives.
I feel that we need many more applications on the second layer that can bring value to the Hive blockchain and the entire ecosystem built here. We simply cannot stay in just two major projects doing most of the economy at this level, we simply need to do better and think better. I know, I should be part of the solution and not simply raise problems... but I guess that's part of my nature as being a QA Testing professional. But you are right on this and I want to be part of the solution. I even start a small projects for Real Time Hive Stats (https://www.realtimehive.com) on the blockchain, but due to my lack on some specific technical skill I didn't succeeded to develop it too much. But it is there, it is a work in progress and I intend to do more in the future with it. Just to dip my toes in the the development part on the Hive blockchain and Hive-Engine as a second layer solution. And who knows, maybe from there on a spark with light a better idea which can bring more value to this ecosystem.
I know that we have some big projects in the works like the Speak Network or the Virtual Smart Chain. I hope those will be functional soon, but until that happens it is hard for me to appreciate the impact over this ecosystem. It can be something big, it can be something huge, but it can also fail if not properly managed and if the right tokenomics and vision are not put together. But the existing projects from here can be as example on how to drive an app on the Hive blockchain to make it successful. And I think the biggest plus that resides in this ecosystem is that you can easily build a community around it and tap into some revenue streams to support your project. On top of that the feedback can be invaluable and is one thing that can ensure its ultimate success and here that's free.
The success of Hive depends not on one or two champions, but on an ecosystem where dozens of projects find niches and deliver value. This mustn't happen just from within, but we need to capture value from outside - even from web2 - and bring that value here and elevate the ecosystem from here. Some smaller tokens and initiatives are already testing this. Sports communities, niche gaming tokens, and creative projects like music or art tokens are seeds that need nurturing. Liquidity pools, cross-chain bridges, and use cases that extend beyond Hive itself could be the missing ingredients. If we manage to develop diverse sources of revenue, then Hive’s second layer could be seen as not just functional, but something that has a recipe for steady growth and consistent profits.
At this moment, I see InLeo and Splinterlands sustaining most of the second-layer economy — but these should be seen as foundations and not the whole building. The challenge for Hive isn’t survival but expansion: attracting more builders, encouraging experimentation, and making sure that value isn’t concentrated in a couple of baskets and these baskets bring value not only from within, but also from outside. If we succeed in diversifying, Hive won’t just have an economy — it will have a living, breathing ecosystem that can stand the test of time. We need some fresh vision and blood in order to do some courageous movements that will ultimately boost the tokenomics from here.

splinterlands has been solid O.O. It'd be great to see more games built on hive for 2nd layer to replicate the success that splinterlands has.
I for one wouldn't have even heard of hive it wasn't for splinterlands. I don't have a big presence in most of the ecosystem outside of splinterlands (peakd etc). I think a lot of splinterlands players are like me with some never posting or showing interest outside the game. I don't have any solutions, but do believe we have a symbotic relationship, one can't survive without the other.
