Hola querido hiver.

El día que salí a dar este paseo llevábamos varias jornadas sin ver el sol. Añadido a que todavía estábamos en otoño, hizo de esa mañana una oportunidad para disfrutar de ese sol tan agradable que apetece aprovechar porque no sabes cuándo volverás a tener la ocasión.

Caminé por el tramo del Corredor Verde que pasa junto a mi casa. El camino de cemento transcurre por el trazado que ocupaban las vías de ferrocarril que comunicaban con Teruel y Valencia hasta hace un par de décadas. Esa ruta se modificó cuando construyeron la estación actual. Tiempo después el espacio que ocupaba la vía se recuperó para el uso y disfrute de los ciudadanos convertida en un agradable paseo. La cicatriz de hierro, madera y piedras que dividía el barrio en dos se transformó en un cinturón que une varios distritos.

Llegué hasta el punto donde el Corredor Verde se cruza con el Canal Imperial de Aragón. Bajé hasta su orilla, donde vi que tenía el caudal inusualmente bajo. Es una operación de mantenimiento de la infraestructura que se aprecia de vez en cuando. De ese modo eliminan la basura que los incivilizados tiran a la corriente de agua y realizan arreglos de las partes que se deterioran. Pasé por debajo del puente que antes cruzaba el ferrocarril y me dirigí hacia la zona del parque que era mi meta.

Atravesé el canal por el puente metálico y tomé desde su centro una foto a cada lado. Este tramo es muy agradable en el verano. La proximidad del agua corriente y la abundancia de sombra aportan frescura.

Pocos pasos más adelante del puente que acababa de cruzar llegué a destino. Allí se abre un gran espacio en el que tenemos una amplia zona verde en el lado izquierdo y una extensa lámina de agua a la derecha. Como puedes ver en las fotografías, me fue imposible evitar que apareciesen otros paseantes.

Junto al gran lago está la sede de la empresa municipal de gestión del agua y también hay un pequeño local hostelero. Su terraza sobre el agua es un sitio perfecto para pasar un buen rato en las calurosas noches de verano. Este día las mesas estaban llenas en la parte que queda en tierra firme.

Llegué solo hasta el otro lado del lago. El camino sigue muchos kilómetros adelante rodeando la ciudad. Así que era momento de dar media vuelta y acercarme hasta la orilla. Aquí me senté en un banco durante un rato para descansar y tomar algo de sol, además de unas cuantas fotos más.

Intenté fotografiar algún pez pero no tuve éxito. Espero que los chicos que había pescando tuvieran más suerte que yo. En cuanto a las barcas que hay amarradas en el embarcadero, nunca las he visto ocupadas y desconozco si en algún momento han estado en disposición de usarse.

Regresé por la orilla contraria a la que llegué. Esta vez el camino desde el canal es cuesta abajo, algo que se agradece cuando ya llevas un rato caminando.

Hi, dear hiver.

The day I went for this walk, we hadn't seen the sun for several days. Added to the fact that it was still autumn, it made that morning an opportunity to enjoy the pleasant sunshine, which you want to take advantage of because you don't know when you'll have the chance again.

I walked along the section of the Green Corridor that passes by my house. The concrete path runs along the route that was once occupied by the railway tracks that connected Teruel and Valencia until a couple of decades ago. That route was modified when the current station was built. Some time later, the space occupied by the railway was reclaimed for the use and enjoyment of the public and turned into a pleasant promenade. The scar of iron, wood and stone that divided the neighbourhood in two was transformed into a beltway linking several districts.

I reached the point where the Green Corridor crosses the Imperial Canal of Aragon. I went down to its bank, where I saw that the water level was unusually low. This is a maintenance operation that is carried out from time to time. In this way, they remove the rubbish that uncivilised people throw into the water and repair any parts that are in poor condition. I passed under the bridge that used to cross the railway and headed towards the park area that was my destination.

I crossed the canal via the metal bridge and took a photo on each side from the centre. This stretch is very pleasant in summer. The proximity of running water and the abundance of shade provide coolness.

A few steps beyond the bridge I had just crossed, I reached my destination. There is a large open space there with a large green area on the left and a large body of water on the right. As you can see in the photographs, it was impossible for me to avoid other walkers appearing in the shot.

Next to the large lake is the headquarters of the municipal water management company, and there is also a small restaurant. Its terrace overlooking the water is a perfect place to spend a pleasant evening on hot summer nights. On this particular day, the tables on the mainland were full.

I only made it to the other side of the lake. The road continues for many kilometres around the city. So it was time to turn around and head back to the shore. Here I sat on a bench for a while to rest and soak up some sun, as well as take a few more photos.

I tried to photograph some fish but was unsuccessful. I hope the boys who were fishing had better luck than I did. As for the boats moored at the jetty, I have never seen them occupied and I do not know if they have ever been ready for use.

I returned along the opposite bank to the one I arrived on. This time, the path from the canal is downhill, which is welcome when you've been walking for a while.
