Pal y su iglesia de Sant Climent // Pal and his church of Sant Climent

Hola querido hiver.

El pequeño pueblo de Pal es uno de los complejos rurales mejor conservados del Principado de Andorra. Gracias a un plan especial de protección gubernamental este patrimonio se mantiene y constituye un reclamo para los numerosos turistas que acuden al país.

Pal es lugar de paso para los que suben a esquiar a la próxima estación de esquí de Pal-Arinsal y parada obligatoria para los amantes del arte románico y de los paisajes montañosos. Así fue para nosotros ese día. Nos dirigíamos a la estación invernal y este punto estaba marcado en el plan como sitio que fotografiar. Ahora cuando viajo investigo de antemano lo que quiero mostrar después en mi blog, aunque en este caso no me hizo falta porque ya habíamos estado en nuestros anteriores viajes de vacaciones en Andorra.

El punto negativo fue que elegimos la peor hora del día por el exceso de luz, qué le vamos a hacer. Aún así espero que puedas apreciar los detalles y la belleza del lugar, que lo merece. La visita a Pal es corta, ya que el escaso camino que hay desde el aparcamiento hasta la iglesia ya nos muestra lo que buscamos.

La joya de este sitio y lo que le coloca en el mapa del arte románico andorrano es la iglesia dedicada a su patrón Sant Climent (San Clemente). Data del siglo XI-XII, conservando elementos originales de entonces, aunque después ha experimentado algunas reformas.

El porche que sirve de refugio a la puerta, por ejemplo, es añadido del siglo XX. En cuanto al exterior lo más destacable es el arco lateral y lo que nos atrae por encima de lo demás es la torre campanario de estilo lombardo que sobresale y destaca no solo respecto al templo, sino al pueblo entero.

La orografía del terreno nos permite colocarnos junto a la base de la torre y a la altura del tejado del templo, dándole la vuelta completa. Es un lujo observar los detalles a tan poca distancia.

El interior tiene poco que destacar, aparte de que tienen prohibido fotografiar dentro y por eso no tengo imágenes que mostrarte. Es una iglesia muy pequeña cuya pieza más valiosa es una talla románica de la Virgen de los Remedios del siglo XIII.

Una vez vista la iglesia anduvimos un rato por las demás calles y regresamos al coche para continuar hacia la estación de esquí. Al dar la vuelta a la primera curva me di cuenta del magnífico panorama que se podía lograr, así que en la bajada nos detuvimos un momento para capturar una buena vista frontal de Pal.

The small village of Pal is one of the best preserved rural complexes in the Principality of Andorra. Thanks to a special government protection plan, this heritage is maintained and constitutes a claim for the many tourists who come to the country.

Pal is a place of passage for those who go skiing to the next ski resort of Pal-Arinsal and a mandatory stop for lovers of Romanesque art and mountainous landscapes. That's how it was for us that day. We were heading to the ski resort and this point was marked on the plan as a place to photograph. Now when I travel I investigate in advance what I want to show later on my blog, although in this case I did not need it because we had already been on our previous vacation trips in Andorra.

The negative point was that we chose the worst time of the day because of the excess of light, what are we going to do. Even so, I hope you can appreciate the details and the beauty of the place, which deserves it. The visit to Pal is short, since the scarce road from the parking lot to the church already shows us what we are looking for.

The jewel of this site and what places it on the map of Andorran Romanesque art is the church dedicated to its patron Sant Climent (San Clemente). It dates from the 11th-12th century, preserving original elements of that time, although it has since undergone some reforms.

The porch that serves as a shelter to the door, for example, is added from the 20th century. As for the exterior, the most remarkable thing is the side arch and what attracts us above the rest is the Lombard-style bell tower that stands out and stands out not only with respect to the temple, but to the entire town.

The orography of the terrain allows us to position ourselves next to the base of the tower and at the height of the roof of the temple, giving it a complete turn. It is a luxury to observe the details from such a short distance.

The interior has little to highlight, apart from the fact that they are forbidden to photograph inside and that is why I have no images to show you. It is a very small church whose most valuable piece is a Romanesque carving of the Lady of Remedio from the 13th century.

Once we saw the church, we walked for a while through the other streets and returned to the car to continue to the ski resort. When turning around the first curve I realised the magnificent panorama that could be achieved, so on the descent we stopped for a moment to capture a good front view of Pal.
