It had been a long time since I last sat down to feel that “sweet little pain” of getting a tattoo, but now it’s done: my right arm finally has some new additions. After years without getting inked — the last one was back in 2017 — the desire only kept growing, but I was waiting for the right moment. And it came in a very special way: my friend became a tattoo artist and, with only a month of experience, she’s already killing it. So, I decided to resume this project of covering my entire arm with her.
The first tattoo I got in this new cycle was a seahorse with flowers. This one means a lot to me because, in 2021, I won an Environmental Journalism award with a piece about the reappearance of the species in the Araruama Lagoon, a sign that the ecosystem was recovering. Nothing felt more fitting than immortalizing that symbol on my skin.
Then came the Fresno tree, which also had a transformative role and freed me from something that had been bothering me for 10 years. I had a number 7 tattooed back in 2015, but I never really liked it — it didn’t turn out the way I wanted — so I decided to cover it up. The result: now I’ve got a design that represents one of my favorite bands, Fresno, and at the same time I added a new number 7, my lucky number, in a much more beautiful and meaningful way.
Of course, I couldn’t skip a tribute to my four-legged companions: Margot and Venus turned into little ghosts. I always say they follow me around the house like cute hauntings, so that joke had to become a tattoo.
And, of course, I left some space just for pure aesthetics: a skull inside a heart wrapped in barbed wire. This one doesn’t have a hidden meaning — I simply loved the artwork and wanted it on my skin.
The result is that my right arm is getting closer and closer to being complete. I’m already planning the next ones — because, let’s be honest, tattoos are addictive. That brings me to a total of 17 tattoos so far.

17 is an odd number that's also good, but if your body wants more, don't hold back, ha ha ha.

Ooooh this patch work is so cool! You got to post showing off the whole arm!!! Hahaha
Just a month of practice and the outcome looks pretty good! Hope it’ll heal properly and she could use a friend to promote her work, congrats to her for a nice work done.
All of your choices are outstanding, skeleton idea is a blast! love the black in the tree, the beautiful flowers around the meaningful sea horse, the importance of your number 7 to keep trying honoring it and the fun way to carry your doggie friends with you.
Enjoy then very much, it’s been a long time since 2017, hope next ones comes sooner than that!
Rock on! 🤘
Haha, thank youuu! I’m super happy with the result too, especially after so long without getting a tattoo! And yes, I’ll show the whole arm once it’s healed, can’t wait for the next one
