The Real-Life Struggle on Myanmar’s Streets & Busking in Rising Star

မြန်မာနိုင်ငံက လူစည်ကားရာနေရာတွေမှာ တေးဂီတနဲ့ ဖျော်ဖြေပြီး ဘဝကို ရုန်းကန်နေကြတဲ့သူတွေအကြောင်း ကျွန်မ လေ့လာမိသလောက်ကို ပြန်လည်မျှဝေပေးချင်ပါတယ်။
​ကျွန်မ လေ့လာကြည့်မိသလောက်တော့ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံရဲ့ မြို့ကြီးတွေမှာရှိတဲ့ ဈေးတွေ၊ ကားမှတ်တိုင်တွေနဲ့ လူစည်ကားတဲ့ လမ်းဆုံလမ်းခွတွေမှာ ကိုယ်ပိုင်ဂီတတူရိယာလေးတွေနဲ့ ဖျော်ဖြေပြီး အလှူခံနေကြတဲ့သူတွေကို ခဏခဏ တွေ့ရတတ်ပါတယ်။ သူတို့ဟာ များသောအားဖြင့် ဂစ်တာတစ်လုံး ဒါမှမဟုတ် အသံချဲ့စက်အသေးစားလေးတွေကို အသုံးပြုပြီး ခေတ်ဟောင်း၊ ခေတ်သစ် သီချင်းတွေကို သီဆိုတတ်ကြပါတယ်။ တချို့ကတော့ မြန်မာ့ရိုးရာ ဝါးလက်ခုပ် ဒါမှမဟုတ် လင်ကွင်းလေးတွေကို တီးခတ်ပြီး မြိုင်မြိုင်ဆိုင်ဆိုင် ဖျော်ဖြေကြတာကိုလည်း သတိထားမိပါတယ်။
​ဒါ့အပြင် သူတို့ထဲမှာ အမြင်အာရုံ မသန်စွမ်းသူတွေနဲ့ ခန္ဓာကိုယ် မသန်စွမ်းသူတွေလည်း အများအပြား ပါဝင်နေတာကို တွေ့ရပါတယ်။ သူတို့ဟာ အခြားသူတွေကို ဒုက္ခမပေးဘဲ မိမိတို့ တတ်ကျွမ်းတဲ့ အနုပညာနဲ့ ရိုးရိုးသားသား ရှာဖွေစားသောက်နေကြတာဖြစ်လို့ လမ်းသွားလမ်းလာတွေကလည်း စာနာစိတ်နဲ့ ဝိုင်းဝန်းကူညီကြတာကို မြင်တွေ့ရတာဟာ စိတ်ချမ်းသာစရာ တစ်ခုပါ။ သူတို့ရဲ့ သီဆိုဖျော်ဖြေမှုတွေဟာ တစ်ခါတလေမှာ လမ်းသွားလမ်းလာတွေအတွက် စိတ်အပန်းပြေစေရုံသာမက ဘဝကို ဘယ်လိုပဲဖြစ်ဖြစ် ကြိုးစားရှင်သန်ရမယ်ဆိုတဲ့ ခွန်အားတွေကိုလည်း ပေးစွမ်းနေသလိုပါပဲရှင်။

​I would like to share what I’ve learned about the people who earn a living by performing music in crowded public spaces across Myanmar.
​From my observations, it is quite common to see these street performers in big cities, especially near busy markets, bus stops, and crowded intersections. They usually perform both classic and modern songs using instruments like acoustic guitars or small portable speakers. I've also noticed some groups using traditional Myanmar instruments, such as bamboo clappers or small cymbals, to create a more lively and rhythmic atmosphere for their performance.
​Furthermore, I found that many of these performers are individuals with visual or physical disabilities. Instead of relying solely on charity, they choose to use their musical talents to earn an honest living, which earns them a lot of respect and support from the public. It is heartening to see passersby offering donations out of empathy and appreciation. Their music doesn't just entertain people on the go; it often serves as an inspiring reminder of resilience and the human spirit's will to survive regardless of life's challenges.

နယ်လှည့်ဖျော်ဖြေပွဲတွေနဲ့ လမ်းဘေးဂီတဖျော်ဖြေမှုတွေက ဖျော်ဖြေရေးဆိုတဲ့ ရည်ရွယ်ချက်ချင်း တူပေမဲ့ သူတို့ရဲ့ ပုံစံနဲ့ လုပ်ဆောင်ပုံက တော်တော်လေး ကွာခြားတာကို ကျွန်မ သတိထားမိပါတယ်။
​လမ်းဘေးမှာ သီချင်းဆိုတဲ့သူတွေကတော့ လူစည်ကားတဲ့နေရာမှာ တစ်ဦးတည်းဖြစ်စေ၊ အဖွဲ့ငယ်လေးနဲ့ဖြစ်စေ ယာယီနေရာယူပြီး ဖျော်ဖြေတာမျိုးပါ။ သူတို့မှာ သတ်မှတ်ထားတဲ့ စင်မြင့် ဒါမှမဟုတ် အစီအစဉ်အတိအကျ မရှိဘဲ လမ်းသွားလမ်းလာတွေဆီကနေ စေတနာအလျောက်ပေးတဲ့ အလှူငွေကိုပဲ မျှော်လင့်ကြတာပါ။ ဒါပေမဲ့ နယ်လှည့်ဖျော်ဖြေပွဲတွေ (ဥပမာ- ဇာတ်သဘင်တွေ၊ တေးဂီတဖျော်ဖြေပွဲတွေ) ကတော့ အဖွဲ့အစည်းနဲ့ စနစ်တကျ ပြင်ဆင်ထားတာဖြစ်ပြီး မြို့တစ်မြို့ကနေ တစ်မြို့ကို ကားတွေ၊ ပစ္စည်းကိရိယာတွေနဲ့ ရွှေ့ပြောင်းသွားလာကြတာပါ။ သူတို့ကတော့ လက်မှတ်ရောင်းပြီး ဖျော်ဖြေတာမျိုး ဒါမှမဟုတ် အလှူရှင်တစ်ဦးဦးက ပွဲငှားပြီး ကပြခိုင်းတာမျိုး ဖြစ်တဲ့အတွက် စီးပွားရေးအရ ပိုပြီး အတိုင်းအတာကြီးမားပါတယ်။
​နောက်ထပ် ထူးခြားတဲ့အချက်ကတော့ နယ်လှည့်ဖျော်ဖြေပွဲတွေမှာ မီးဆိုင်းတွေ၊ အသံစနစ်တွေနဲ့ ခမ်းခမ်းနားနား ပြင်ဆင်ထားတဲ့ စင်မြင့်တွေ ပါဝင်တတ်တာပါပဲ။ လမ်းဘေးဂီတသမားတွေကတော့ သူတို့သယ်နိုင်သလောက် တူရိယာလေးတွေနဲ့ပဲ ရိုးရိုးရှင်းရှင်း ဖျော်ဖြေကြတာပါ။ ဒါကြောင့် နယ်လှည့်ဖျော်ဖြေပွဲတွေက ပိုပြီး ပွဲလမ်းသဘင်ဆန်တဲ့ အနုပညာပြသမှုမျိုးဖြစ်ပြီး လမ်းဘေးဖျော်ဖြေမှုတွေကတော့ နေ့စဉ်ဘဝရဲ့ ရုန်းကန်လှုပ်ရှားမှုနဲ့ ပိုပြီး နီးစပ်တယ်လို့ ကျွန်မ မြင်မိပါတယ်ရှင်။

​While both traveling shows and street performances share the goal of entertaining, I’ve observed that their formats and operations are quite different.
​Street performers typically find a temporary spot in crowded areas to perform alone or in small groups. They don't have a fixed stage or a strict schedule, and they rely purely on voluntary donations from passersby. Traveling shows, on the other hand, such as traditional Zat Pwe or organized music concerts, are much more structured. They move from town to town with a large team, professional equipment, and vehicles. These shows are usually commercial ventures where they sell tickets or are hired by a sponsor for a specific event.
​Another distinct difference is the production scale; traveling shows involve grand stages, elaborate lighting, and professional sound systems. In contrast, street musicians perform simply with whatever instruments they can personally carry. Therefore, while traveling shows are more of a formal festival-style artistic display, street performances feel much more connected to the raw, everyday struggle of life.

Rising Star ဂိမ်းထဲမှာလည်း အခုနက ကျွန်မ ပြောပြခဲ့တဲ့ လမ်းဘေးမှာ ဖျော်ဖြေပြီး အလှူခံတဲ့ ပုံစံမျိုးနဲ့ တော်တော်လေး ဆင်တူတဲ့ အချက်တွေ ရှိနေတာကို တွေ့ရပါတယ်ရှင်။
​ဒီဂိမ်းရဲ့ အစပိုင်းမှာ ကစားသမားတစ်ယောက်အနေနဲ့ "Illegal Busking" ဆိုတဲ့ မစ်ရှင်လေးကို စလုပ်ရတာ အမှတ်ရဦးမှာပါ။ ဒါဟာ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံက လမ်းဘေးဂီတသမားလေးတွေ လမ်းဘေးမှာ ဖျော်ဖြေပြီး အလှူခံတာနဲ့ အယူအဆချင်း အတူတူပါပဲ။ ဂိမ်းထဲမှာလည်း ကိုယ့်မှာ ဘာပရိသတ်မှ မရှိသေးခင်မှာ လမ်းဘေးမှာပဲ တူရိယာလေးတစ်ခုနဲ့ စတင်ဖျော်ဖြေပြီး Starbits လေးတွေ ရှာဖွေရတာဟာ တကယ့်ဘဝက ရုန်းကန်နေရတဲ့ အနုပညာသမားလေးတွေရဲ့ အခြေအနေကို ပုံဖော်ထားတာလို့ ကျွန်မ မြင်မိပါတယ်။
​နောက်ပိုင်းမှာ Level တွေ တက်လာပြီး Experience တွေ များလာတဲ့အခါမှာတော့ လမ်းဘေးကနေတစ်ဆင့် အဆင့်မြင့်တဲ့ ဖျော်ဖြေပွဲတွေဖြစ်တဲ့ "Open Mic Night" တို့၊ "Midweek Support" တို့ကို လုပ်ဆောင်ခွင့် ရလာတာပါ။ ဒါဟာ အပြင်လောကမှာလည်း လမ်းဘေးကနေ စတင်ခဲ့တဲ့ အနုပညာရှင်တချို့ဟာ ကြိုးစားရင် ကြိုးစားသလို ပိုမိုကြီးမားတဲ့ စင်မြင့်တွေပေါ်ကို ရောက်သွားနိုင်တယ်ဆိုတဲ့ သဘောတရားနဲ့ သွားပြီး တူညီနေပါတယ်။ ဒါကြောင့် Rising Star ဂိမ်းဟာ သာမန် ဂိမ်းတစ်ခုထက် ပိုပြီး အနုပညာရှင်တစ်ယောက်ရဲ့ ဘဝခရီးလမ်းကို လမ်းဘေးကနေ စတင်ပုံဖော်ထားတဲ့ Simulator တစ်ခုလို ဖြစ်နေတာက တကယ်ကို စိတ်ဝင်စားဖို့ကောင်းပါတယ်ရှင်။

​In the Rising Star game, I’ve noticed several parallels to the real-life street performers we discussed.
​The game starts every player off with a mission called "Illegal Busking," which mirrors the concept of street musicians performing for tips in public spaces. Just like the musicians in Myanmar who start with nothing but their talent and a simple instrument, players in the game must perform on the streets to earn their first Starbits when they have no fans yet. It’s a digital representation of the raw struggle that independent artists face in the real world.
​As you level up and gain more experience, you progress from those small street corners to bigger opportunities like "Open Mic Night" or "Midweek Support" slots. This reflects the real-life trajectory where some street performers, through persistence and skill, eventually find their way onto larger stages. To me, it’s fascinating how Rising Star isn't just a game; it acts as a simulator for an artist's journey, starting right from the very bottom on the streets and working their way up to stardom.
