CREATING AN ADORABLE GOWN FOR MY LITTLE ANGEL

It's needlework Monday!

I made a beautiful and simple gown for my adorable little niece. Let me share a bit about her; she's so beautiful with her infectious smile and laughter, and her sparkling eyes bring warmth. She doesn't joke with food, and I get an earful of her cries if I delay for a second before putting the next spoonful in her mouth, she's a blessing to my family. Despite being young, she acts more grown up, which my mom finds amusing and calls her "little old lady". As her aunt, it was my duty to make my little princess look gorgeous, so I had to make sure I made beautiful dresses for her to rock to church.

At first, I decided to make a long gown with a flare at the bottom, but it didn't sit well with me, so I opted for a simple and elegant A-line gown with a side loop for added charm. She rocked it so well to church and it was difficult capturing her moments, I had to bribe her with biscuits 😄😄. I had to block her two hands with the biscuits to prevent her from removing the headtie. Later that day I got the gist from my mom that immediately they got to church, she flunged the headtie on the ground.

The sewing process

I folded the fabric into 4 in a triangle form, then marked out her measurements and cut out the front and back pieces.

I folded the bottom part of the gown to give it a neat finish

Using bias tape, I taped the neck and armhole ensuring a neat finishing look.

To get the dart for the loop, I marked out three inches inward from the folded edge, and 7 inches downward from the shoulder.

After the 7 inches, I took a length of 4 inches for the dart where the loops would be inserted, and cut it open.

I inserted the loops in the dart and sewed it and then I cut out the belt and folded it neatly. Then, I joined the shoulders and sewed the side seam of the gown together.

Here comes my beautiful model♥️

The outcome of the gown looked so gorgeous on her. She rocked the gown and posed so effortlessly. I am far away from her now and I miss the crazy things she makes me do.
