What a brand new week this is.
Staying in business takes a lot of courage and effort. It means showing up in the good days, and the not-so-good days.
This is because, One need to show up everyday determined to achieve a goal, which is building trust in the heart of your audience to deliver and profer solution to their fashion needs.
I had a client who reached out to me that, she wanted to make a kimono and palazzo pants in an African print but she said she was scared if I could deliver.
It was quite funny to me, as kimono and palazzo are one of the simplest styles in the fashion industry.
I sent her a link to my portfolio to see for herself, complicated styles I've made over the years and that built the trust.
I began to wonder, if I hadn't been showing up sharing my work on my website how would I have proven to her that, I could deliver?
Well, we bargained price and got down to work.
The fabric she brought was a silk fabric and an African print also called Adire.
I started with the pants. I drafted a basic pant and altered it. I used the slash and spread method.
For the kimono, I folded the fabric into four and made a cut out of the neckline using my clients shoulder and length to achieve.
I used a long stripe to make a need design from the top to the hem of the jacket and it took me about an hour and few minutes to achieve.
Heres the finished look of the outfit as she rocked it with pride.
Here's the different views to this outfit. I like how she styled it with a white top and it added more vibes to the outfit.
Have you experienced a client who doubted your craftsmanship at first only to believe in you later? It will be exciting to hear your experience.
I think I also love the color combination of this outfit. I would be making one for myself.

She must have gotten one of those "what I ordered versus what I got" so I won't blame her if she decided to see your previous works.
This looks good on her.
Well done dear and thanks for sharing.

Some have trust issues because of what I ordered vs what I got, except you show them your work and prove them wrong. The kimono looks beautiful. Nice work.
