Hello fellow needle workers..
It's been a busy day and I think it's better late than never.
It's still Monday at this part of my world, so I would love to share a project with you all.
Many people love to rock a corset outfit but only a few know the right way to make a perfect cup.
I love to share my knowledge and whatever I've acquired, I ensure to share with the beautiful members of this community.
First of all, I recently got a message from a friend who was finding it challenging to make a corset outfit and since I was on the project I decided to share my simple method with her virtually.
We were on a face time for about two hours while I taught her how to cut and sew a perfect cup. While I was on it, I taught about sharing it here also, it could be of help to someone out here.
The material needed for this project is bust warden or pad.
Fabric, ready made bra cup, hemming gum, needle, and thread
To have a firm and beautiful result, it's very advisable to firm interface your fabric and lining especially when working with a stretchy fabric.
For the ready made bra cup, you'll need a bra cup an inch or two bigger than your actual bust in order to take dart that will fit your hand made cup.
The width of your dart leg is 0.5 and the depth is 3.5 and ensure to always label your work.
This is how the outside will look like after taking dart.
The next thing you need is your hand needle and thread to hand tack the pad hand made pieces of pad together to form a cup.
Placing bust point to bust point. While sewing ensure you do not take excess allowance at the bust point only add 0.5 at the sides of the pad not at the bust point.
You should have something like this after stitching.
Inner view.
Outer view.
Once you're done with the hand tacking of the cup, join your fabric together as well and it should look like this.
Now grab your hemming gum and ensure you have a breast ball used to iron bustiers.
Place your sewn fabric on the ball, wet your hemming gum and join your hand made cup to it using a steam iron.
Here's what it look like.
After securing properly, you now have a beautiful cup to work with but that's not all.
Place your ready to made cup and sew all around to give it a fuller effect. This is done so that the client can rock the corset without actually wearing a regular bra.
This is the finished look.
Isn't it sitting pretty?
Well, that's how to achieve a perfect cup for corset outfit.
This is just a 10% progress on my project and I can't wait to share with you how to draft from scratch, a corset mermaid dress. It's a very beautiful outfit I'm working on.
It has taken me a lot of time doing the not -so - little things to bring that dress to reality and power supply has been my greatest challenge so far.
Well, I'm here now. The next thing I'll do is to draft the skirt pattern, join the corset to the body, snatch the waist, and do some finish touch on the outfit and soon it will be ready to rock.
Can you guess the color of the main outfit? I love to hear your thoughts.
