A surprise outfit for my friend.

I am super excited to share this work with you today.

I am a sweet person you know, wanna know why I said that?

I'll tell you🙊.

I and this beautiful soul had been friends right from high school, she was one of the few people who had stuck with me for a long time, the few high school friends who have survived the test of time till this day.

One day, after graduating from the University which was in another state, she came to visit me and that day was a very joyous moment, bonding once again well I just used my eyes to measure her.
I didn't use a tape rule measurement to measure her, but I was looking at her body because I had plans for her.

Well, after the chit-chat and all she left for home as we are now based in the hood which is an hour away from my house.

I remembered I had a scuba fabric somewhere but I wasn't so sure of what to do with it.

Like usual, I was flipping thru my style inspiration on #Pinterest when I saw this beautiful style

Truth is, I loved the style so much but I knew my Friend will love it even more. Hmmm, "Dinma will love this, I thought to myself." But the problem is, I didn't know how the back of the outfit was because it was I only saw the front, however, I used my power of discernment to make something beautiful.

So I went ahead to do the needful, mind you I didn't have any accurate measurements of her on the ground, but I decided to make a dress for her anyways.

The materials needed were just the zipper and the floral scuba itself.

So I started to cut, the front vee neckline, and then I cut another piece separately, like the one you are seeing, marked my armhole and I made a round neckline and then v underneath which formed that beautiful design, then I made a square-like back, and four straps to attach to with the front. The dress is just a fitted dress with a breast dart and zipper at the back and then I sewed each piece together.

Well, I quickly made a paper illustration for you to see how I achieved the neckline as seen in the collage because I didn't take pictures of the process It's a long time, even before joining Hive, so these pictures were what I could find in my archive.

After sewing, I called her up on the 1st of January 2019 I still remember because of her reaction.

I told her I had a surprise for her and she started to laugh, told her to come to visit me and so she came.

When I brought out this outfit and gave her, I was just anxious, hoping it fits her.

Lo and behold, this dress fits like a glove. She was surprised I made an outfit for her without her measurement, but I guess that's what makes a good designer right?

This picture was taken the day she came to fit the dress, I took the shot myself. I think I made a nice back view too, I loved it but she loved it more.

And then she promised to take nice shots for me the day she'll rock it out.

These were the pictures she took and I am excited I made her smile. She keeps reminding me of how I made her day that day when we randomly discuss.

Do you see why I said I am a sweet person?😹😹
