SACRIFICES WE DON’T SEE

That feeling of being left out is something that sometimes we don’t have control over. We feel like the grass is growing better on the other side and not on our side. We wish to be like others that we see are doing better than us (in our own eyes). I have seen different situations where people wished for others’ lives, and it turned out that they had a better life than them.

We live in a world where people hide their pains, their tough moments, and their mistakes. We only show people what we want them to see, and most times, that part we want them to see is the good part. As they say, “You fake it until you make it.” This is one reason why we see people advising us to always focus on ourselves, because that is the only thing closest to what we can trust as truth, because even though we lie to others, we can’t lie to ourselves.

Yes, there are people out there living the best lives, but one thing we always fail to acknowledge is that they went through difficult challenges to get to that point of their lives. But as always, we only see the successes and never the failures. The moment we start walking on our own paths to achieving that life, we start realizing the many hurdles those people had to overcome to get to that point that we admire so much and wish for ourselves.

It’s okay to want what is good, but I always try to remind myself that nothing good comes easy. Those tears we cry, the pain we feel from losing the most precious people and things in our lives, and so many more, they are all part of the sacrifices we make to get to that point that we should be. The moment we hold on to those past hurtful memories and experiences, we fail to see the lessons that we should have learnt and focus on the pain. By doing that, we miss the opportunity of growing past that point.

It is normal to want to absorb our pains, but that is not the whole point of going through them. I know how long I have tried to hold on to my pains, thinking they would make me feel any better, but guess what, it only made it worse. Letting go is just the best, because that way, you give God the power to take His move. I’m doing that right now, and lately, I have been feeling a lot lighter and less stressed. Of course, I still reminisce on things that trouble my mind, but it’s not as I used to.
